Desert Iguana by LoopGaroux Desert Iguana by LoopGaroux
The Desert Iguana is one of the largest lizards here in the southern parts of Arizona. This neat lizard is for some reason not that 'afraid' or 'quick to run off'. This pretty creature sat and soaked up the sun last weekend as I went outside to do some yard work and because these lizards are bright in white colors he stood out instantly. He/she let me get so close that I was only 3 feet away taking pictures. All of my encounters with them have been as such.

One other encounter was when I drove home at night from a movie and I came across one absorbing the heat from the road. When I pulled over and tried to touch it, the darn thing stood up on its hind legs running around like a funky drunk person! Then it belly flopped on the road. It was too much fun that I had to touch it again. It ran around on its hind legs when it finally disappeared into the dark night shadows of the desert. They are just really neat lizards and fun to be around ^^
