Dark Shadows by Lonzo1 Dark Shadows by Lonzo1
No offense to Johnny Depp...But i think there's only one Barnabas Collins...The Original.(Although Ben Cross did a decent job in the revival..But still.) I remember after school Running as soon as i got off the bus as fast as i could so i won't miss a single episode of this rather unusual soap opera which was then in syndication and it was rather unique..A daytime drama that involved Ghost.Vampires and Werewolves... very innovated for it's time...Originally ran on ABC from 1966 to 1971.... Dark Shadows became a cult hit and the main character Barnabas Collins became a iconic legend....The role was played by Jonathan Frid and it was a role he later said that he enjoyed playing and who can blame him ....Jonathan...You will be missed.

It is to both Jonathan and the role he made famous all over the world that this fan-art is respectfully dedicated.....Enjoy

Additional Note: If you're interested about this classic series...Some of the episodes are available on Netflix and also on Hulu Plus.

Dedicated to the memories of
Jonathan Frid ( The one true Barnabas Collins.)

I love both Barnabas! Jonathan is the first and the original, and is truly good! Johnny made me laugh and inspired me a lot!

In a way I'm glad I didn't fall in love with the show until after seeing the movie, because if I had realized just how much the movie was destroying, I might have starting ranting right there in the theater. xD

Now that I've watched more of the show, I know Jonathan Frid will always be the one true Barnabas Collins. ^_^

I agree....I don't hate Depp...He's a great actor Capt. Jack Sparrow is my fav. character
but bad script writing was responsible here..that and they disrespect the source material by making it a joke.
the producers of that flim should learn from the series.. don't mess with the classics.

I'll admit it's soured my attitude towards Depp...and Tim Burton...
Parodies can be good tributes, but in my opinion they didn't even make a good parody...more like they borrowed the characters and some plot themes and flew off in a random direction.

I agree wholeheartedly! Just watching the TV ads for the Dark Shadows movie made me nauseous. An awesome show like Dark Shadows subjected to such a lowbrow, dull-witted parody, those producers ought to be ashamed of themselves. A few months back, I saw Dark Shadows on the TV schedule, but when I tuned in, it was a different Dark Shadows TV series. I just couldn't watch it for more than a few minutes. It wasn't that it was bad, it just stopped being Dark Shadows in my mind when I realized someone different was playing Barnabas. You just can't beat the original, accept no substitutes

that was probably the revival you were watching that was actually quite decent but short lived.(The Gulf War was said to be blame there.) But still when i truly think of Dark Shadows I think of the original and of Mr.Frid's portrayal as Barnabas.:)
