The War of the Worlds (Eve of the War) Chapter 15, What Had Happened in Surrey.

This is not my design of one of H.G Wells' Fighting Machines but the musician Brendan Perkins design, a friend of mine.
It shows the Martian Tripods holding the tube-like Black Smoke launchers. These launchers fired a canister which smashed on impact, the canisters contained the chemicals that mixed with out atmosphere to create the black smoke.

In one WotW story I wrote, black smoke was launched through closing/opening multi-barrelled mortars in the body of the machine.

Well, it's more or less how they're said to look like in the book (I just read it and liked it)

I think an invasion of Mars like this would be much more interesting to experience then a Zombie apocalypse.

Incredible :D this reminds me of the World Wars, and the concept of the black smoke is very creepy because in WWI created the poisonous gas in battles :fear:

The legs of the background martians need to be each in a different position otherwise it looks as if each has been copy/pasted, otherwise a fine image.

Thanks yereverluvinuncleber.
This picture is a copy of one of my friend's pastel drawings, I tried to stay faithful to his original as much as possible.
Had it been one of my designs, the legs would have been arranged differently.

Understood, we all live within the limitations of the source, the inspiration or the technology. It is very good nonetheless.

Awesome work as always mate! I love it, the whole atmosphere of it, and the Tripod's design is also very Science Fiction, absolutely fantastic work! :D
