Some of the many characters from the crazy Canadian kiddie show, including host Vincent Price. Happy Halloween everyone!

Well damn, the Canadians got lucky here! Never knew this TV show existed.

You do learn something new every day. I didn't know Price had his own kiddie show. I've got to check it out. And this is a great tribute to him. :) (Smile)

Actually, Price was "only" the hired host, and shot all his 400 segments for the 130 episode series in just four days!
The real star was Billy Van, who played no less than 10 quirky regular characters on the show. In my illustration, all the characters are Billy Van, except for Price, the purple monster (Bammer) and the fat green guy (Igor).

I've seen couple of episodes. Its alright, has these random sketches sort of like monty python.

(hippy looking guy with a cape floating) he says "My father was superman you know"

that sort of randomness.

It's very random! It has an anything goes approach, but that's what I kind of like about it :)

Depends on your taste. It's very silly at a kiddie level, but it's all done with great enthusiasm.

I used to love watching this show.  I'd get up early just to see it.  It was worth it just for Vincent Price.

I caught a few episodes of this show back in 2005/2006. I'd recently become a fan of Vincent Price, so I tuned in for him.

A lot of people did. It's essentially a kid's show, but I know people who tuned in during their college days, just because the show was so crazy.

Totally. The professor on the show was a colleague of Albert Einstein which blew me away.

I remember not watching this show. What a fool I was and here now I madly love Vincent Price films. It's nice how you pay homage to the old, odd and unspeakables of the world and then some! :)

Thanks! These are the shows and movies that may still be out there in TV land, or on digital and disc releases, but I fear there won't be many new shows of their ilk produced now or in the future. I prefer to stick with the oldies and classics :)

yeah, live action kids shows today are different. Millennials like myself are nostalgia junkies though and I wouldn't be surprised if classic kid's shows get second lives as movie remakes. I'm surprised PufnStuf hasn't gotten such treatment already actually.

I'm really glad that the younger generation is taking an interest in vintage entertainment. I've found that many young people appreciate the honesty of, say, classic Doctor Who, though the technical aspects may not be up to par with current TV shows. But it seems that bit doesn't matter as long as the story is good and the characters connect with the audience.

I know that Sid and Marty Krofft has had quite a few of their TV shows developed into movie properties. Don't know what the status is for H R PufnStuf, but maybe you remember that Land of the Lost movie a few years ago, and apparently there's also an Electra Woman and Dyna girl film too.

Try to find the original version, which doesn't have a very annoying laugh track.

Yes, the original Canadian version is the better one. I think they added the laugh track for American syndication.
