It has been a long time since I saw that movie but IIRC there was a scene where those 2 were whipping and capturing  one of the ghoulies . What were they up up to with up?

In the movie it seems like they were capturing a ghoulie to fling it at one of the kids, basically using it as a weapon. At least, that's how effects master and ghoulie maker John Buechler explained it in an interview I read.

So in your picture are they collecting them for further mischief?

No, they're actually ending the mischief by whacking the ghoulies and gathering them up.

No, this is supposed to be when the kids leave the mansion. Grizle and Greedigutt stay behind, as in the movie, but then I imagined that they go around the place and bag any left-behind ghoulies.

I found them to be more interesting the the Ghoulies.
IIRC their names came from the supposed names of Witches familiars in English witch trials

Yes, their names come from familiars that I think Matthew Hopkins himself recorded. There was a recent horror film that also used one of those names; "Pyewacket."

Thanks! It's one of my favorites too. It seems to be generally quite poorly regarded, and I can't see why. I think it's clever, atmospheric and quite original.

I really love this movie! It was a blast for me! I fantasized with finding a small grimoire in my grandparents old house for a time... :)
