Story (534 words) 

Anjelica and Blackbeard were on the road again, although this time they were not alone Lord Hargrave was traveling with them he had followed them from their last races up at the Haskell International along with WoR Petit Oiseau a seal bay filly from Blacktyde stables and her rider Riley Henderson who were to race alongside Blackbeard , Both Riley and Anjelica were keen to see how the two horses compared to each other on at the track. They had been in training together back home and Blackbeard had a speed advantage where as Oiseau's stamina was strongest both the horses were feircly competitive let alone the riders.

" You think Oiseau will do okay" Riley mentioned her nerves were starting to get the better of her, Oiseau hadn't the experience under her belt that Blackbeard had and the starting gate has proven to be her downfall on more than one occasion. "Don't worry" Anjelica replied "Sure she has a familiar face there once she sees him in the gate she'll go in fine just like we practiced back home" she continued. "Mmm okay i hope so we don't want a repeat on last time" Riley mumbled.  

The trailer drew up at the Saratoga Race Course it was still early the sky was a dark blue only starting to get light it seems they were one of the first to arrive "Seems like we're early, miss judged our  timing, sure a little extra time cant hurt anyone" Rupert said merrily, he was enjoying the break from his affairs back in Ireland and was glad to pass the burden of managing Blacktyde Estate onto his wife for a while. After a good 15 minutes driving around trying to work out where they were supposed to go they parked up and began to unload the horses. The trailer ramp hit the tarmac with a thud  as the doors opened Blackbeard was caught red handed stealing the last of Oiseau's hay net she stood there looking most disapproving. "Oi what are you doing there then boy?" His ears pricked up as he turned his head sharply around acting all innocent, " Come on then lets  stretch your legs" Anjelica said as she moved the partition and began to lead the stallion down the ramp. Blackbeard was always keen to take in the sights and sounds of new surroundings he stood with his head held high in the air and let out an almighty neigh letting the other horses know he had arrived.

As Blackbeard stood in the starting gate anjelica glanced round quickly to see Oiseau load into the gate with no bother, she gathered her reins and patted Blackbeard on the shoulder awaiting the bell to ring and the gates to open. Soon she found herself  hurtling down the track the thunder of hooves around her, Blackbeard puffed snorted as he galloped down the track he ran better on the turf, he was quick off the mark and soon left the pack. Angelica could see a dark horse approaching over her left shoulder it was Oiseau she had obviously decided to have her own personal competition with Blackbeard, well if she wanted a competion that's what she would get...
