Story - 725 words 

So it was off to japan for the team another new location for all of them after their performance at the Melbourne cup they were keen to get back out onto the track  They drew up to the track early the morning of the race allowing them plenty of time for themselves prepared for the race, The team worked like a well oiled machine they had perfected their routine on race day always allowing plenty of time in case of any mishaps to minimise stress for both them and the horse. Rupert took dimitry aside to discuss  plans for the other thoroughbreds on the yard over the next year "...What about Ferrero, and Blaklion how are they doing out on the track"  Rupert inquired wondering about the two colts " Well" dimitry sighed " Ferrero is coming on leaps and bounds with Reiley but stick another jockey on him and he is a beast  bucking, rearing he has gotten a bit better over the last few weeks but its still going to cause us problems out there  and hes still having a hard time getting to grips with the starting gates and having other horses come up close behind him but the sheer speed he has when hes out on the track is a sight to see.  He still needs more work before we enter him into any main events. As for Blacklion he's just as hard working as ever listens to his jockey and does what is asked of him we had him entered into one of the local races a few weeks ago but he got so worked up on race day that he had to be pulled from the race while other horses were being loaded to the gates, it seems he lacks the confidence in that atmosphere but he's still quite young so we have time to build on him"

Blackbeard chomped happily on some food the race was still hours away Brent  debated braiding his mane for the race but upon trying a few sections decided better of it, his skills were no where near that of the eventing horses grooms,In fact he isn't technical a groom either he just offered to help out with his favorite stally. Brent decided to have a nosey at the competition about half the horses had arrived and were all at various stages of prep most were getting groomed to look their best  others were getting checked over by the vet. one had lost a shoe on its travels and was being attended to by the farrier much to its disapproval as its handlers tried to calm the anxious young horse. It was a hubbub of noise in the stables he walked out into the cool fresh air and glanced down at his watch "2C hmph no wonder it feels nippy out" he muttered to himself his breath showing on the air. the temperatures were set to rise over the day  to a max of 10C  "Blackbeard should be pretty alert today with the temperature change" he thought as he began to wonder about how the race would go.

"BRRRRIIINNNGGGG"  the bell went off piercing through the cheering of the crowd  blackbeard was still a little strong for Anjelica's liking as he galloped up alongside Sunday Memory the two horses seemed to exchange glances as if to say "Game on" as they pulled out from the pack each determined to outdo each other, the competition had just gotten personal . Their Hooves thundered  as one inched forward the other sped up to poke their nose ahead the jockeys glanced at each other  there wasn't much they could do now the horses were locked into a competition and they wernt going to back down. Rupert Brent and Dimitry watched from the side of the track "What are they doing"  Brent asked confused "Its not part of the plan" Dimitry replied quickly he was on the edge of his seat unsure of how this would end " The plan was to take it steady for the first 2/3 of the race then push it on the straight. Silence fell upon the three of them when the horses disappeared from view on the far end of the track. the screen was just out of view they held their breath waiting for the horses to appear from around thefar corner.
