It was a bright morning withe sun high in the sky a few clouds dotted the horizon although there was a slight nip to the air unusual for the time of year, Anjelica pulled down the trailer ramp and began to unload Blackbeard. She thought to herself about the whirlwind trip they had been on over the last few weeks "bet your looking forward to getting home big guy" she said his ears pricking up " I know I am, there's a lot to be said about the comforts of home" as the pair walked down the ramp Blackbeard threw his head up high his nostrils flared lifting his front feet slightly off the ground"whats the matter with him" a voice grumbled from the side of the trailer "He probably just saw something out of the corner of his eye new sights new smells new sounds, you know what young horses are like"Anjelica said attempting to diffuse the situation she knew the race meant a lot to Dimitrios. "He better not act up out on the track we dont want to have to back out" he said Anjelica remembered all too well the incident Dimitrios was referring to when Blackbeard was almost removed from the race before they got into the starting gate.
It was 15 mins to the race time to head to the parade ring, Blackbeards attitude hadn't improved if anything he was more on edge than earlier ears flicking at the slightest sound, he skipped nervously around the paddock with head held high and tail swishing the other competitors gave him plenty of room " easssy boy shhh " Anjelica said to him in an attempt to calm him down as she began to worry how he would act on the track. she figured the sheer number of people here wasn't helping him.
The race was about to start Anjelica and Blackbeard were in the starting gate waiting for the bell to go, the crowds booming cheers echoed from the grandstand she tightened her grip on her reins and whispering "lets go get em boy". The bell rang the gates crashed open Blackbeard leaped forwards, they were off.
