My home country Germany is going to elect a new government this year. Herewith I illustrate my political positions on all the parties.
Note that in Germany you can elect 2 parties, the votes have different meaning, the first vote is more beneficial to large parties and the second to the smaller ones. Giving both votes to one party is normally less effective, so I will vote for two parties and which one gets which vote will depend on the predictions shortly before the election.
It is not usual for one party to rule alone. You normally need to ally with a smaller party. During the last election none of the large parties was able to get enough seats with their preferred ally. The largest parties CDU and SPD had to form the government.
CDU/CSU (black - Christlich Demokratische Union) conservative middle party:
During the last years this party stood for a security above freedom. They voice technically incompetent opinions and are your best bet if you want to live in a police state. Ever since September the 11th they have been pushing laws favouring surveillance and censorship. I consider them the successors of the Zentrum party, which in 1933 voted for the Nürnberger Notstandsgesetze and thus made it possible for the Nazis to make an end to democracy in Germany.
SPD (red, Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands) socialist democratic party:
This is the party that founded the Weimarer Republic, the first democracy in Germany, which was ended by the Nazis in the 30s. They used to be one of my choices, but recently they have, as part of the governing body, brought forth censorship laws, together with the CDU. I consider this a betrayal of democracy just like the Zentrum did in the 30s. Hence I do not think I will ever vote for them again.
FDP (yellow) liberal party:
They are the traditional ally of the CDU in Germany and call themselves liberals. But really in my opinion they are a neoliberal party. If they'd had ruled Germany during the last decade we'd have probably been hit by the economic crisis as bad as it has hit the US. And that means people loosing all 3 jobs, without a social network, having to leave their homes, live in trailers and buy dated food.
Grünen (green, Bündnis 90 die Grünen) ecologist party:
This party stands for strong ecologist thinking. They are the traditional ally of the SPD and the only party who dares to ask for economical sacrifices in favour of saving the world. They think that Germany should be an example to the world, using renewable energies, getting rid of coal, oil and atomic power and force the traditionally strong automobile industry in Germany to build ecologically more acceptable cars. They have in the past been one of my choices.
Linke (red, Die Linke) left party:
A union of the PDS (the successor of the SED which ruled the DDR) and a left wing split party from the SPD. Their program is the one closest to my own convictions, however I doubt their loyalty to democracy, hence they have no standing with me.
Piraten (, Piratenpartei Deutschlands) pirate party:
This is the German manifestation of a European party that stands for a free internet without surveillance and censorship. Thanks to Sweden they entered the European parliament. This is a new party, and their chance of entering the parliament is small. But the movement is young and growing fast, especially under the impression of new censorship laws.
Of course there are more parties, all of which have no chance to get into the parliament.
I am going to vote for the green and for the pirate party. The green party, because I think an ecological revolution is necessary. To save our ecology we do not only need to switch to being a zero CO² country. We have to find ways to permanently remove all that CO² that was blast into the air during the last 100 years. The best way in my opinion is to turn the stuff back into oil and put it back where it came from. That'd cost a lot of energy, so we better find ways to tap lots of renewable energy sources.
I am going to vote for the pirate party, because I believe the internet is the battlefield where our generation will decide whether we are going to be a free people in a democratic society or whether we will be sheep under the guidance and surveillance of our governments.
If you think this is worth reading or discussing, please link to it. We live in a time when the ruling bodies of the world work hard on taking our liberties. Consume, conform and shut up is the way to go if we do not fight back.

Hunger
I should go back to doing art again. It is one of my greatest hungers. Stay tuned, the day will dawn.
For those of you who haven't noticed. I have embraced bronydom. I don't know yet whether I'll explore that artistically. But really anything is uncertain in my life right now.
Message backlog
I finally took care of everything in my inbox, going back to August. WTF???
Because racecar.
That's a Superfast Matt citation, now.
Because Racecar
It's 04:30 AM, still in the garage.
Ventilation is now finally temperature dependant and we've got some more useful displays in the dash panel. All wheel speed sensors work properly, too.
We're almost done for this night. We just need to clean up, now.
Star
I made a star. Not the best one that was and will ever be made, hopefully even by me, but much better than all my previous attempts.
Of course I'm not talking about a white dot on a black canvas. I'm talking about a blazing ball of fire that almost makes you go blind just by looking at it. I also needed a lot less time than I would have expected.
Of course it's still missing the space around it. I'll have to be very careful not to ruin it.
