Computer crashes: most of us have had them at least once, and I have have had my share over the years too. Mostly they have been more like cyber "fender-benders" than major crashes, but not this time. My recent crash was the computer version of being in a 200 mph head-on collision with a cement truck filled with dynamite and plutonium.
My trusty computer that has served me well for five years somehow miraculously survived the crash, but just like a human would be in a similar crash, it's not quite what it used to be. It's alive, but paralyzed, brain damaged, and very VERY S L O W .
I have also lost a program that I used as part of my workflow that is no longer made or supported. A ton of DAZ resources that I have found and collected over the years are gone too. Worst of all, I have lost the vast majority of the work I have created, including most of my custom DAZ characters. Losing them is not like losing real friends, but there's a lot of myself in them, so losing them still really hurts.
I will continue to make art using a backup computer that's not as good as mine was, and without all the resources I used to have. It will be harder and slower, but (Dang this sucks!) life goes on. I have learned one thing from this experience though: Cloud storage is for me! I have always mistrusted it, but now I'm going to use it because I don't want to go through this again.
