Description
Acrylic on Stretched Canvas
30″ x 40″
This is one of those paintings that holds a special place in my heart.
Anyone who had been out to Shuswap Lake in Blind Bay, BC will recognize this scene in an instant – Copper Island. This view, in particular, could be seen from the deck of my family’s home. I will forever remember many nights spent sitting out on that deck looking up at the stars surrounded by family and friends, much laughter and great conversation.
I can only hope I captured the energy a simple picture could never quite seem to.
If you weren’t one of those people sitting out on the deck with us you might be wondering, who’s Mike?
Mike was my Dad, a constant supporter of my painting and someone who always had an idea to help me brainstorm or a few motivational word to stop me from “paintcrastinating”. He was not a painter himself, but I remember him always talking about one day doing a painting of the northern lights that graced our backyard every summer. Unfortunately, he never got the chance. This one’s for you, Pop!!
