Contrary to popular opinion, I don’t dislike being outdoors or exploring the countryside. I mean Carrington is surrounded by rolling hills, picturesque vales and ancient oak woodland. I used to enjoy exploring them in my pre-sleuth days, and I do find the beauty of the English countryside to restore me to calm when I am at my most stressed.   But being in the great outdoors when it’s a) night time and b) rainy are different matters.
