You can give a llama to help, but since it's not a real account it doesn't have llama stats.

It's an old version of the One Click Llama Button from 2011. Time breaks almost all scripts if they go un-updated.

The script by Donkoopa sometimes doesn't always work properly.
It gets stuck at trying to give the same user a llama every interval while it hits the spam filter repeatedly, apparently not activating the timeout function and waiting the longer interval.
This doesn't happen all the time. I don't know why.

As for the spam repeat problem, I 'solved it' by setting the interval to 70 seconds. This seems to always stay under the spam filter. 60 does not.

It also occassionaly stops working, and if so, it's always after a new page load.  Paging DonKoopa for dark magic.

Edit: After a refresh, the script starts working again. The console indicates the following:

It appears as though these warnings may be related to the script dysfunction, but the same warnings also appeared after the refresh...
The "Loading failed for ..." ones are due to uBlock Origin and/or uMatrix.

Edit: These Source map errors also occur on script-induced page loads. May not be the cause of the script malfunction after all then...

Also, standalone bug report: you know how sometimes you get a reddish flashing llama (from the OCBL), indicating an attempt at giving a llama has failed? If that occurs, your script doesn't know how to handle it and gets stuck, won't load a new page or anything. Doesn't seem to be the reason it stops working randomly in other situations because here the script is technically still running, according to that play icon in the title.

Indeed! I just updated the script to address that issue. The blinking llama-buttons should now also get clicked. Since you've modified the script it might not get automatically updated and have to reinstall it manually.

Alright cool shit, thank you! You replied just before I wanted to suggest something: Check for button status 1 second (or so) after the last given llama.

This way one can avoid getting stuck in a spam loop, where a llama button was clicked and gave the spam icon, but the interval in the script is set too high such that the spam icon disappears before the script tries again.

So, current situation: [check and give] > interval > [check and give].
New situation: [give and check] > interval > [give and check]. Maybe you can leave in the pre-check, I don't know if that's useful. The post-check most certainly is.

Another suggestion: short bursts of gives with small interval followed by delay of large interval. E.g. give 25 llama's with 2 seconds inteval, wait 30 minutes. Not sure tho if it's worth replacing the old timing method.

this is kinda weird... the spam-icon should be displayed for 60 seconds before switching back to the give-icon and therefore the 10-second loop should easily detect the spam-icon before it switches back.
I don't see how you can run into a spam-loop without either setting the script look to over a minute between llama gives or modifying the One Click Llama button script's 60 seconds (github.com/KishanBagaria/OCLB/…) down to a much lower value...

Ah, I should have clarified. I run a 70 seconds loop on your script to stay under the spam filter. 60 and 66 have proven to be just not low enough for me.

I'll see what I can do with the OCLB script then, thank you :)

Good. Unfortunately, the random script failures still occur :( any other reports by other people? I've also found that a clean installation of chrome doesn't work well either. Works on a page and then stops working after new page has loaded.

Sorry... i can't really reproduce those... i remember that the script broke for me a few times too when i gave llamas to the big lists but that only occured every idk... 100 pages? Then i got some javascript popup and had to reload the page.
Isn't anything showing up in the console when it happens?

Another update: Pretty sure OCLB Helper is the main culprit. With it enabled this morning, the script ceased to work after a next page load. Currently have it disabled and the script is still running fine.

Update on the ceasing issue: I believe the problem was in OCLB for some reason. I removed it altogether, reinstalled it and adjusted the timeouts (low for error, high for spam) to work well with your script. So far so good :)

Unfortunately not. It just.. ceased. The only warnings I got were from uBlock nuking spyware.

I did get, not associated with the ceases, wonky errors/warnings or something which I believe is due to OCLB Helper. I'll have to run them at the same time and see if the cease happens.
I also render (at lowest CPU priority, but still) a big ass fractal taking a lot of memory. This doesn't interfere with any normal functioning of the browser, but worth mentioning I guess.

Could you please do a minor tweak to the OCLB Helper description?

The button is now in the bottom right, and is unlikely to move from there (It was interfering with UI elements at the bottom left, but it in mostly free pace at the right.

Your journal says:

It adds it to the bottom right now.

No, you were initially correct. The first version was in the bottom left, but I moved it v0.16 to the bottom right to stop it interfering with other UI elements.

When you first posted about OCLB Helper it was v0.15.

Just dropping an idea for a new very helpful script:

Automatically generate a list of usernames from the native random deviant function.
80 usernames should do the trick (in ideal situations), which is just above the llama pool of maximum llamas that can be given after a while not having given llamas.
The script could even be programmed to work in conjunction with the One Click Llama Button (and Helper), such that only usernames are presented for deviants who have not yet received a Llama from you.

Please let me know who to spam this to in case this isn't the place!

This is definitely the place! I know people in the llama business. I have connections. :giggle:

dAbot can give llamas to random people. DonKoopa was able to configure it to give a llama every 1.5 minutes.

I have a lot of experience giving llamas to randomly generated people. This method not only got me fewer llamas in return, but also a lot more hate and confusion in my comments.
When using dAbot I give llamas to those with favorable stats. They have given more llamas than received. I could never go back to giving to purely random deviants.

oh i haven't tweaked the code or anything, i just did some calculations based on what the bot was capable of doing.
dAbot is able to give 20 llamas after waiting for 30 minutes because of hitting the spam limit.
20 llamas/30 minutes = 30/20 = 1.5 minutes per llama (or 0.66 llamas per minute).

I can second the experiences with the "llama give random deviants" command though, lots of people spamming "Thank you"-comments on your profile or wherever they want else (like my gallery for some reason or via notes [the notes were mostly asking what the llama was for]).
After switching to the "llama give random exchangers" command, which is basically the same as the previous one with the exception that it does check the random user's llama stats before considering giving it a llama (they're required to have given more llamas than they've received), i could see way more llamas getting returned than before (because surely the chance that someone returns a llama is higher if the person actually gave more than he received).

The only problem i'm currently dealing with is that the script tends to die for some reason after running for multiple days...
Also since the amount of "exchangers" to give llamas to will obviously decrease over the time, it'll take more time to find some, hence why i'm actually running the script 4 times parallely to be able to get close to the spam limit.
There's an issue over at the Github repo of dAbot and Kishan is aware of that fact. He already had an idea to make things a bit faster, but we'll see when he gets around to making improvements...

I get what you meant now. This explanation helps a lot.

>

I had to link a faq explaining why I give llamas. A lot of time people comment without reading anything on my profile. I've had to respond to many comments with the faq link.

>

It dies on me a lot too. Not to mention dA's updates which breaks it.

>

My laptop can only handle two running at the same time. I only run it when I'm using my computer.

>

If he takes to long, just remind him again. I'm personally a friend of Kishan and I know he isn't very interested in dA development anymore. That's why he put the bot of GitHub, so other people could improve it if they want.
