📜 Background Story

The offspring of a local Komerican coffee shop owner and a nekomata who had changed into a human many years ago, Nekomata grew up in a world that struck a balance between the ordinary and the magical. As a little girl, she had faint blue flames called Wispfire that danced around her when she felt strong emotions. One day, when she was six, her powers got out of hand during a festival in Oedo Town. This taught her how important it was to keep her emotions in check.

With the help of her mother’s teachings and her father’s kindness, Neko learned how to stay calm and focused. She used music and meditation to help her mind. At first, she was afraid of using her flames, but she eventually realised they were not something bad; they showed who she really was. When the WNA Academy opened in 2020, Neko decided to join to improve her Wispfire skills and show that even someone like her—a half-yokai—could use her powers in a kind and graceful way.

Inherited from her mother, Wispfire is a magical flame made of energy instead of heat. With it, Neko can summon and control ghostly fireballs that confuse and block her enemies. Instead of using brute strength, Neko uses skill and movement. Each flicker of the flame responds to her focus, allowing her to fight with speed and grace. It’s all about creating illusions and taking control, making the spirit of the fire come alive in her movements.
