Yeah. Conflict of emotions for nuzlockes is rough. Like I lost a Butterfree to a Primape, but I couldn't bring myself to hate Primape because I had one stashed away in my PC. XD

xD That's tough. Poor Butterfree. Emotions are pretty tough during nuzlockes. Good luck, I'm in love with this nuzlocke!

I'm intrigued on how the fight's going to end; Brendan has had the type advantage up until this point, but something tells me that's not going to cut it.

If it's alright to critique,
(LONG CRITIQUE AHEAD OH GOSH I'M SO SORRY)

One thing I'd recommend working on is both facial and body posing (pfft I'm one to talk :P)
The poses seem a bit... static? Like, the way they look, it's obvious what they're doing, or what emotion they're conveying, but they're just sort of missing that... 'oomph', if you will.

For example, Grovyle in the second panel; it looks more like he's casually slapping the voltorb as opposed to slashing at it. If you want to emphasize how strong an impact he inflicted, I'd have him lean much more forward with the shoulder of his attacking arm raised, and said arm holding a much more rigid position; as if he's throwing his weight into his attack. Think of how a punch works: the damage comes from the weight put into it, not from the action itself. Sorry if this is confusing, but it's the best way I can describe it.

Another one I can point out is Brendan's pose in the 3rd to last panel; the pose is quite good, but it's just lacking that bit of 'oomph'. He just seems to be a bit too 'rigid', if I may say so. He doesn't really convey excitement or anxiousness in his body language. I'd recommend bending the knees, tucking in the elbows, spreading the legs to give him a more sturdy stance, hunching his back, and tightening his shoulders. This sort of turns him into a 'spring', if you will; ready to jump for joy or flop in defeat.

Finally, Slugma's face in the 4th to last panel. Slugma looks to be more irritated/disgusted than in pain, to me. I'd recommend emphasizing it's 'brow', cheeks, and mouth here. (Maybe even teeth if you feel like giving Slugma teeth). It's brow should dip forward either a bit or a lot more, depending on how much pain he's in. Very nice having his eyes roll/close upward and having his cheeks raised! As for the mouth, keep it tightly positioned; lips curling inward, jaw clenched, things like that.

Overall though, nice comic! The battle feels dynamic with the changes in perspective, and I love how your Ember attack looks; especially the ones that you see impacting against the Magneton! Keep it up!

Thanks for the pointers. I'll try harder with putting more oomph into my comics. My movements tend to be rigid and minimal so I guess that spills over into the comic a bit. ^^;

No worries!

I got a little bit more advice for you, (not sure if this'll work for you like it does for me, but) I find when it comes to poses, video clips help a lot (whether they be from animated videos or live-action, it doesn't matter) as you can see how 'industry professionals' do it, and when it comes to facial expressions, try making various faces in the mirror (or observe them in a movie clip or whatever) and note what parts of the face work to convey that emotion. (Eg Anger = Contricted pupils, tight lips, clenched jaw, etc). It may seem boring, but it does help.

Sorry for blabbering on and on! Keep up the good work!
