Stories of a fanged stag often were told as warnings from the Lord of the Wilds, some saying the aggressive, protective beast was the god's favored creature form against egotistical hunters, others saying merely a violent beast with a taste for hunting the hunter. Statues of the stag were placed along the forest and mountain paths as a fair warning for hikers and hunters alike of the possible danger of straying too far.
