While Bestia Fabula is so close to completion it hurts a realization hit me.
You see the difficulty I've had with the new Automaton game project is that UDK (Unreal Development Kit) is huge. Massive.
There is no little reason why entire teams of proffessional people use it to make games. Programmers, artists, you name it, a bunch of folk with several skills.
In case you hadn't noticed I'm one man and just one man. A mad man sometimes with perfectionist problems and the work structure of a particularly slow slug.
My point is that this has happened.

Automaton has split into 2 entities.

This, despite sounding like I'm biting off even more than previously, is a good thing for I'm not.

I'll categorize them as such.

Automaton Reinvented: This is Automaton part 3 and is in continuity with the previous episodes. It will use pre-rendered graphics and will be made with Adobe Flash CS4 (I believe)
(Funny thing, I've been using Sothink SWF Quicker 2.5 while making Bestia Fabula. I've been using software that's been outdated for over 6 years)
More on this later, but know that this is Automaton Part 3 in all but name.
It will also be good for my 3D artistic skills.

Automaton Side-project: This is the UDK and is purely me experimenting with UDK.
This will be a very casual project, much like it has been for me. I will use it to test real game developing skill.

After Bestia Fabula is finally released, I will start on Automaton Reinvented.

Also, know I'm totally redoing my own work structure to something that actually works.

Automaton, the new game that is, will be more of a way for me to get familiar with UDK.
It's a test project so don't expect it to revolutionize gaming or see it in stores.

So, don't get your hopes up that much.

That is all. . . for now.

All projects are now on hold or might even be ended until further notice.

Good news is, I'm going to take an education as a video game designer, applications and school are keeping me away from projects such as Automaton.

It's also difficult for me to make Automaton now. Steampunk as a style has exploded in the years I've been making these games and playing with thoughts and it has become more of a gimmick than anything else, now.
That and point & click games are very easy to make so every time I start, I get the feeling I should be learning how to use the UnrealEngine instead.

All hope isn't lost. I've got the feeling when I'm going to make tech demos, Automaton will serve as a background and perhaps even develop into a small game and I'll be fully willing to share it.

I work at a dead, drugged snail's leisurely pace and and I'm certain this series mostly gone and forgotten, so this is my awkward "good bye" or "See you later".

Keep in mind, this isn't final.

Bestia Fabula is a finished project, so I'll be sure to get that out... some day.

OK, a lot of stuff going on and a lot of ideas bouncing on my head, but it is time for me to tell what is going on.

I'm working on finally getting Bestia Fabula out.
I'm working on a 1 minute animated art film that will be taking most of my time.
I'm also sketching out Automaton 3 backgrounds for when I got the time.

But here is the new thing.
I'm not taking on any more work here, but as soon as I get Bestia Fabula released and get done with the art film, I'll make something... a comic about Automaton.

Part 3 will start fresh, so to speak, for not to alienate new players. It will have a lot of the style of storytelling from the earlier games, but that is where the comic comes into place.

It will show what happens between part 2 and part 3. The comic will be made during the creation of part 3, but it will be posted here as often as I can make it.

Also, I'm trying to make a workplan or something to make my ways of making things... more efficient. I'm a slow worker, a perfectionist so a workplan is in order.

-Phew-

PS: A BIG thank you to everyone who comments and sends emails to me, showing that they like my work.

Wish me luck, people!

Hello.

I'm Fredrik Strøm (aka.Littlenorwegians) and this is my deviantART page. I have made this to show the sketches for a flash game I'm working on called Automaton part 3.

The previous Automaton games were in 2d, but this one is in 3d (Pre-rendered).

So have a look and leave a constructive comment.
I'm also open for suggestions regarding the game.
Puzzles, places and characters, and such.
