I'm a damsel. I'm in distress. I can handle this. Have a nice day!
I'm a damsel. I'm in distress. I can handle this.

So here is my latest project, a request from megasonicmanlover. Megara has found herself in a spot of trouble, nothing she can’t handle mind you! Kaa is trying to hypnotise Meg but it’s not working and she’s just getting bored now! Much to Kaa’s frustration.

It’s been a fun piece and I’m looking forward to getting it coloured next!

Esmeralda through the years: 2014, 2016 and now 2018
My Progression of Esmerala

I've seen quite a few posts recently where artists are posting images that show the progression of their work. It’s a useful thing to do because it reminds us just how far we have come as artists. It can also give hope to those who looks at other people’s work and think ‘damn I wish I was as good as them!’ because it forces us to look critically and see that you are progressing, you are getting better!

Here, I have taken an image I produced back in 2014. Back then I was uses in Promarkers, a medium I loved because the results were amazing and made me feel that by default my work was amazing. It wasn’t until 2015 that I made the leap from traditional media to digital.

The Middle picture is from 2016 and the first time that I made the decision to do a progression piece. What was important for me at the time was to create something that had no reference except that of a basic pose. The 2014 image is a copy of a still from Disney but the 2016 image was of my own design. It was also a brave thing for me to attempt the background as this was fairly new to me as well.

The third image is from 2018. I hope it shows that extra step/leap I have recently made in the progression of my art. Mostly because I think there is a visible improvement on the pose and my ability to draw the human body. There is also an improvement in my awareness of light and shadow. The back ground admittedly is from the original movie I did not create that ^^ mostly because I couldn’t be bothered. Which is lazy of me I know, but I have other projects I want to move on to and this was only supposed to be a quick fun thing to appreciate how my art has moved on in 2 years.

I look forward to coming back to it in 2020 and seeing once again just how far I’ve managed to come because I firmly believe that the more you draw, paint and create the more you will continue to improve. But it’s not just something that happens through repetitive drawing. I’m always studying light, pose, emotions, and narrative – all things that will hopefully continue to push me as an artist.

Apologies for the essay and well done if you made it to the end.

And remember, if you want to see more from me don’t forget to hit follow :P

Finished woo!
Esmeralda: Lady In Red
Esmeralda is my favorite Disney character and I really wanted to do her justice. I also wanted to see how I could employ recently learnt techniques to improve upon an old image.

I’ve now joined Instagram!

After joining Loish’s Facebook community it quickly became apparent to me that a lot of artists are on Instagram these days. Whilst I was loathed to go there I quickly realised that this is because I had a misconception that it was all millennials taking dog faced selfies...but I have quickly realised that it’s another great platform on which I can promote my art.

I’ve also even been inspired to re-do my personal website so that it’s no longer so out of date! More on that to come!!!

Don’t think this means I’m going to neglect my deviant art account! I still believe this is a great site with a great community. Saying that if you want to follow me on Instergram too I won’t complain ;P so why not check me out on:
www.instagram.com/lisagunnillu…

And why not join Loish’s digital art group on Facebook where Loish is building a wonderful community where artists from all over and different walks of life can come together, share their work, give tips and advice and perhaps even inspire one another. X

Hi there, I have a couple of questions. Do you take requests? If not, do you do ideas like for example, expressions of Amos Slade from The Fox and The Hound?

Hello, I'm not taking requests at the moment purely because I'm working full time and then studying part time when not at work. Doesn't leave a lot of room to get some art in. Saying that, as expressions is something I'm currently looking at and interested in improving in my artwork I would be open to suggestions. Why don't you drop me a note with what you had in mind and I'll see if I can fit it in. Might take me a while as I'm part way through rendering Moana and Maui but it could be something I would be willing to create next.
