Yes it's really still just an Irish and American thing - but I understand it's caught on in Japan and Domincan Republic, and also to a lesser degree in Australia and Germany. I have friends in Melbourne who hate Halloween there because too many teenagers just use it an excuse to do vandalism, not harmless pranks either - they actually break and burn things down. That's not American Halloween in 2017, we are more civilized than that In some places in the US 30th October is an unofficial night to do pranks and mischief and vandalism. Depends on where you go. In big cities here EVERY night of the year is a mischief night.
