Tell us what defines you as a person.

That's a hefty question that could easily lead to a long. philosophical answer I'd say I'm the sum of my experiences and the values I have been taught and acquired over the years. So experience and knowledge, good or bad.

How did you found out about deviantART and why did you join the community?

I found out about dA when I was 13 from my then best friend, now fiance =SpiritLullaby. We've both switched from our original accounts since then And in all honesty, I joined because I was bored in my grade 9 business tech class and wanted something to do. I drew as a hobby and there were a lot of nice people, so it just worked out.

When and how did you discover your passion for art?

Always loved drawing. Started drawing horses when I was 8, Pokemon and Digimon at 10 and then people and characters at 12. It was something to do that made me happy and allowed me an escape and I just stuck with it.


What inspires you the most and when do you think your creativity is at its maximum?

Books, video games, music and SpiritLullaby. 75% of what I create has something to do with her; we throw ideas back and forth so often that we don't even realize that we're doing it half the time.

What do you think you'd be doing if you hadn't chosen this path?

Well, I don't have a career in art nor have I gone to art school, so I'm not sure I chose an art path, really. I can't imagine not volunteering here though; can't imagine life without dA for extended time periods either In all likelihood, I would have found other websites to participate in or maybe I'd still read a couple hundred books a year

What do you think it's your most meaningful deviation and what makes it special? Does it have a story behind it?

That's actually really hard to pick. I draw more to design than to convey meaning, and I rarely am patient enough to draw a full scene. In terms of a scene with a story behind it, I'd say The Price of Failure. It shows part of the story of how one of my characters got a scar that bisects her breast, which is always a reminder to her of how close she came to death because she became overconfident. The emotion was a challenge to me, as was the character poses and interaction. Loads of technical flaws, but still something different than what I normally do


Do you have any insecurities regarding your art?

Oh gods, yes. I have a fear of negative feedback and tend to sit there and see every fault in something I am about to post (anatomy, perspective, that fold looks off, etc). I catastrophize; I always feel the work isn't that great and am waiting for someone to jump on it. I want to create to have fun yet I let my anxiety towards my art and responses to it, take me away from that.

Did art ever helped you to deal with your life problems?

It helped me avoid a lot of them and gave me something to focus on that was good when nothing else seemed to be. So yes and no.

What is the one thing you always wanted to do but never got a chance to?

I keep saying I want to do nude modeling at least once before I die. I have done some loosely implied nude but never nudity that showed anything you have to keep covered if you leave the house Not sure if I ever will do artistic nude, I'm a bit shy, but it would be interesting.

If you don't make mistakes and you don't have fun, you're doing it wrong. Step back, take breaks when needed, accept that not everything will be perfect, learn from it and enjoy doing so
