Hello everyone, I hope you’re all otherwise doing all right, and that you’re having a happy pride month. Unfortunately, while I was away for several days, a hacker managed to break into the system and desecrate this group. A brief rundown:
- >> For reference, no one can send an invite asking to be on the admin team. When I used to a contributor myself, I couldn't even vote on submissions. The previous founder had things very strict, and when it was handed to me, I left it as I found it.
- >>Despite this, the hacker not only got into the admin team, but sent an invite for his second account to be of an even higher rank. He then deleted 14 years worth of art, the icon, added porn and gore to the gallery, favorites, journal, etc.
None of what he did should be possible.
When it happened, I had worked nights back to back and dealt with being refused service by my health insurance (I'm disabled and also in a lot of pain), so when I found out about the group, on top of everything else I have going on right now, I just had a breakdown. Then I had to create a banner and help with events for pride. So, I'm sorry for the late response to all of this. I promise I'm trying.
That said, I’m going to be sending a ticket to dA staff to see what can be done, but I fear for the worst. The damage was so bad that the logs (which detail who joins and submits something and when) in the admin area are gone, even though they’re considered apart of the actual Groups system itself and it cannot be edited or removed even by founders. In all honesty, I don’t really know what to do. I felt horrible, I still do (if you can have an entire group locked up the way it was for that long and it still gets obliterated, why even bother?). But I wanted to ask you guys what you think should be done with the group, if the situation comes down to dA staff not wanting to help at all. what do you think?
