Let me grow alittle... by Limited-Access Let me grow alittle... by Limited-Access
Aha I will not be the last to finish his calender submission!
So here's what I got for January though the final version will probably have better than 2 second text and I'll have made sure the romanji makes sense or cut it.

Not sure if anyone can tell but that's supposed the be Taneshima Poplar from working >.<

Mixed feelings on this one though, the backgrounds kinda... dull and empty and working on a big canvas makes my inability to render all the more obvious still I like it.. :)

edit: crap I didn't save it but I think it's supposed to be kotoshi, moo sukoshi takai ni narimasu yoo ni ...

Saddly, I knew exactly who she is when I saw the thumbnail....
I see what you are saying.
The side walk is actually pretty well done, and consider the difficulty of the angle. A lot of the imperfection seems really insignificant. Altho they are still there.

My suggestion is simple, dump the red pole thingy that you obviously added at the last minute. (The perspective and the angle on that is way off.) Keep the pole's shadow, and slightly zoom in a bit so to shift Poplar-chan to the left. The top of the bell might be cut off a bit as a result but it would not destroy the perspective. Keep the pole's shadow as if there is a telephone pole off camera. This would result in an illusion that sometime is there when there isn't. Apply Danny's triangle rule should provide enough good reference on how much to zoom.

thanks for the indepth advice. Though if I can I'd prefer to just re-work the pole if someone could redline some guidelines or something, the zoom thing could work but it's kinda empty if I zoom that's why I added the rafter beams in the first place to try and add some depth so I'd rather avoid that.

Then certainly rework the beam, and adjust the shadow of the beam as well. They feel very natural especially if you consider the perspective of the print. You might want to add a few vanishing point and projection line to make sure the beam is tilting in the right angle. You can remove the black line after coloring the beam. That would make it less crisp and shift the focus back to Poplar-chan.

Ya, I expect indepth criticism on my stuff from you guys too. Plz criticize more!!

Looks awesome, dude!

I think thinner line art on the pole at the back would make it merge with the rest of the background more seamlessly. Otherwise, pretty good :)

You still mke a better rope than I do ^^

I have no idea what/who this Taneshima Poplar is, but could you please explain?

As for the background, I find it appealiing. Maybe I'm into simple things because I can't draw any backgrounds XD
