29 views? What's wrong with people? You say so much with so little.

To be a popular artist, one talent is not enough ..
One should be sociable, talkative, and often praise other community members.
No, this is not advice, it's a fact that makes me furious...

Guess that is the difference. I make art to find my own truth rather then to seek validation through popularity. Whether others find their truth reflected in it is irrelevant. If you try to find validation through art you will always feel that frustration but if you find yourself then you won't need the validation and there will be nothing to feel frustrated about.

Oh sure. But art is always a 'message to someone'. And to find this 'someone' you might need some fame. :)

Its ironic that you both get and miss the point at the same time. Yes, it is a message to someone. It is a message to myself. Art is how the soul speaks to the mind of the artist. That 'someone' you seek is yourself. Until you realise that, no amount of fame is ever going to stop that feeling of not being enough that is causing your frustration.

I understand very well what you are talking about. But I do not agree.
We can't all his life talking to himself. Human is a social animal. :)

Ofc, human nature is to seek connection in order to allay the fears around death. That we die alone and that our existence has no meaning. But the key to our purpose in life and the greater truth of our existence is in knowing ourselves completely. Realising that we are infact connected to everything and it is only the mind and body that die, that the soul is consciousness and mind and body are contained within it rather then the other way around. It is true whether you agree/believe it or not. But the point I was making is that when you are creating the art (or discovering it within yourself) it is an individual pursuit. An exploration of self. Completely separate from anything the mind will try to make sense of after the fact.

And again, yes, of course.
Art is a way to understand yourself. This is true, and this is unquestionable.
But not only. It is enough to ask yourself the question, why do I show my works. :)

That's true, but it takes time. I've been building a presence for years and I'm only just getting there. At times DA seemed like a club I wasn't invited to join. And the comment was tongue in cheek. I'm not seriously blaming anyone.

Yes. I realized that the "blame" was not serious. :)
Simply, I'm really annoyed by the fact that attention does not depend on talent. All too often I have seen (not only here), how easily and quickly the active and honey-mouthed commentators gain popularity.

I used to be, still am at times. In my more rational moments, I ask myself if I'm having fun and doing what I want to, and if I am, that's OK. I'm not going to say nice things about pictures I hate just to get more faves. You are, incidentally, one of only a few digital artists I still watch.

Yes. I have long noticed that your comments are very... informal.
Maybe that's why, you're one of the few commentators whose opinion is really important to me.

And thank you, that you are still interesting to look at my... handicraft. :)

<3 I've not really put myself out there to be honest. I've been teaching myself to draw since Feb and only just started to put my work up as I'm making it. Hugely appreciate the compliment though, thank you! Heart

You've clearly worked at it hard and have natural talent. If you feel like you want to attract a wider audience, I'd do a journal highlighting your work to my watchers and I think there's other people that would too.

OK, it's a small thing to do. Are there any pieces you would like me to highlight?
