I used the word "frisson" commenting on another of your drawings, but it's more appropriate here.  That shiver that accompanies the lightest touch.. or even the anticipation of a touch..  and the vulnerability of the stretched throat, offered up to be caressed or harmed at the whim of the other... the very essence of submission.  A beautiful moment, perfectly captured.  I like to be able to see the individual pencil marks, as here;  you may see it as less "polished", but I like to see the artist's paw-marks and claw-marks  :)  Astoundingly good.  I'm going to enjoy this winter with your artwork!

I read the first half of your comment before looking at the picture and then thought "I could update it" then read the second half and decided not to haha  thank you so much for taking the time to truly involving yourself in it. I can't wait to dabble in some of your worlds  draw things from my perspective in them ;)

I don't know if the title is any reference to that wonderful Sylvia Plath poem of the same name...  but no matter.  The visual and conceptual "edge" here is so striking.  You've got light and dark, hard and soft, sharp and smooth, active and passive, vertical and horizontal, all these contrasts meeting at an edge, a fold, a "fermata" (If you don't know that Nicholson Baker book "The Fermata" - highly recommended!).

Don't let me stop you re-working this if you want to.. I feel the same way when I look back at my earlier works, "Ooh, I could do that better now, I think I'll re-do it..."  Mostly I try to resist that, and forge ahead with new subjects, but there's no reason not to re-work old ones, if they're good.  And this one is very good!

Also do I detect a subtle reference to Michelangelo in that hand? The Sistine Chapel?  Maybe now I'm "reaching", lol ;)

Damn, you think as deeply about it as I do! I haven't read the book, will check it out  thank you! I will leave it, as I quite like it as part of the story of progression of my own style. I may do another version of it though with the new shading style I've been doing. Makes more sense in terms of an ongoing story. Hehe, the hand shape is based off the 'touch' from The Sistine Chapel work  well played Captain, slip nothing by you!

hehehe.. I like to look closely...  I sometimes go to a gallery and only look at three artworks.. people think I've had a seizure or something because I stand so long in front of each one  ;)  I should warn you "The Fermata" is somewhat pornographic, but it's entirely justified, artistically, in the context of the novel's themes... :horny:  I am glad I was right about the Michelangelo (pats self on back) - that's got to be worth an extra ration of grog.

I think you are wise to keep this as it is :)  And the story of your development as an artist is one that I am very keen to follow :D

Avast, ye lubbers! Pirate Arrr

Haha.. the quest for the Kraken continues... blank looks from all the liquor shop-keepers I've asked so far.. next time I'm in town I'll hit the big supermarket and see what they've got :)

Yes, people occasionally ask if I'm all right, as I'm rooted to the spot in front of an artwork... I try to fix them with an otherworldly stare, and intone majestically: "I'm appreciating!"
