[Character History]

Moon Shadow is originally from the Manehatton area before the city was what it is today. He was born to a low class, low income father but his father, Amber Star, still loved him all the same. Moon Shadow grew up not knowing who his mother was or if she was still even alive but he holds a hate for her thinking she just abandoned them. In school as a young colt, Moon Shadow was bullied and ridiculed for not having a cutie mark and for looking so different from all the other ponies. When he was just a teenage colt, he ran away from home with just a letter to his father and traveled across Equestria.

He studied all kinds of magic but he couldn't use it. Until he discovered a talent for using the stars for all kinds of things and that's how he got his cutie mark, on top of a hill during a moonless night and a sky so full of stars.

Some time passes and Moon Shadow eventually came upon a hidden spring that shimmered white. Incredibly thirsty after his travels, he took a drink and fell asleep in the grove. The next time he awoke, he found he had wings and he was a full grown stallion. Like anypony in his situation, he panicked before gathering his composure and calmed down. He did some more traveling and found out what happened during his sleep. He got a job and a home in Canterlot through some favors and talking so some ponies and even though not many knew his name or looked twice at him, he was happy.

One day he went out to find out what happened to his father, Amber Star. When he found out he was dead and had been for over 1000 years, Moon Shadow went into a depression but his friends Cloudburst and Diamond Sky helped to cheer him up. Though that was also the day the two pegasai found out he was an alicorn but they promised to keep his secret but the two decided to start giving him flying lessons...even if he was terrible at it. All his friends also discovered never to bring up to topic of his mother, finding out first hand just how bitter he was about it.

Neither Moon Shadow or Princess Luna knew that they were mother and son.
