Hello, everyone! For starters, I've now finished updating all of my addons as of today! So now what happens? Well, there's two things I wanted to explain.
Some of you may still remember in the previous entry a few months ago that I was working on 2 collab stories, The Wereling and Blood Moon. This is supposed to be the final entries for the Splatoon 2 Timeline before I supposedly move on to the Splatoon 3 storyline. At the moment, I'm slowly working on the panels as we speak. Though I'm not sure when they'll be done, it'll definitely be before 2024 ends. I do hope I can get one of them done before the summertime.
I've been learning a ton during the second half of last year when it comes to porting models to SFM (though I still think there's more I can learn from.) There were a few reasons I wanted to do it all of a sudden, but I'd say it worked out well.
Now that my recent Fuzzy Octoling gear was a success, I wanted to challenge myself this time... I've considered porting the Splatoon 3 Gear to SFM. I haven't heard wind of anyone else working on the gear, so I wanted to take a shot at it now that I have a better understanding how SFM porting works. Now, this is definitely a daunting project considering how much of it is in the game, so I'm gonna be working on it little by little. But there's a few things to note should I decide to work on the project:
It may be restricted to the Splatoon 3 models only. The in-game gear's skeleton rig is based off the Splatoon 3 models. This would also include the weight paint data. Copying the rig from previous ink/octoling models would mean I'd probably have to re-adjust the weight paints and skeletons. Since I'm not too confident with that (On top of the fact it would take even longer to do), I'll be leaving it alone, just like what I did with the Fuzzy Octoling project set.
I will be focusing exclusively on the new gear. Or more specifically, I'll be prioritizing the gear that's exclusive to Splatoon 3. Gear from previous games that's been ported with texture updates will come later when the new gear is ported (E.G. Porting the Pink Punks, but not the reskin textures of the other punks).
So far, I've mapped out the gear I'll do based on category:
[COMPLETED] Clothing. A few people asked me specifically if I would work on this before, so it's more of a priority. Currently, there are 90 new Splatoon 3 gear out of the whopping 254. Again, this further proves why I want to work on the new gear and not the previous gear.
Shoes. The shoes are going to be the second category I'll work on since we have yet to get a good number of them excluding the ones we already have. Currently, there are 61 new shoes out of the 160.
Headgear. Currently there are 77 new gear out of the 186. Though this category is lowest on my list because another person has ported a few headgear models while we don't have a lot of the other categories.
This is pretty much all I have to say! Like I mentioned before, I've only considered the idea of porting the gear due to how long it will take, but it's not out of the question either. Right now, I'll work a bit more on my stories so I can make more progression.
Thank you for your time. See you guys later!
I had to pick up way more shifts (for good reason), so work's been kicking my ass recently. I'm still determined to work on The Wereling Comic, but I have a big animation planned and that has a deadline. So I'll probably just work on one page at a time so I don't burn out. Expect slow comic response because of this.
Rarely I get sick. But when I do, it's awful because it lasts too long for my liking... And it conveniently happened to be when I'm working on The Wereling comic. So that's gonna have to be delayed until I recover.
To send off the year of 2025, I updated the Enhanced 2.0 Models. It's not much, but it makes the models compatible without TF2 mounted and has individual arm and leg models. It allows the left and right arm and legs to be adjusted separately, allowing even more customization. I hope everyone enjoys, and see you in 2026!
The 2025 Animation Recap for my channel is now published. I've also made an overall summary and what I want to do with the channel going forward into next year.
I'm currently working on a port. It is NOT splatoon related, but it's still a much needed addon, especially for the SFM community. Odds are it won't be done until after Christmas, but I'm hopeful the quality of the port will more than make up for it.
