Today is my friend's funeral...
In the anime Naruto Shippuden Jiraiya died defending what he loves... As did Hari.
My Friend's actions when he and my sister were faced with the speeding car is testament to the kind of person he was. My friend had less than a second to respond to the approach the of the car which was moving at 120 feet a second... his response was to try and get my sister out of the way... As a result she is badly injured but alive.
MY friend died a hero.
He was one of my best friends, my sister's boyfriend... a fellow cosplayer and overall nerd who loved Zelda and anime and all the things my sister and I love... the three of us got a long so well it felt as if he were family... his untimely death and the incident surrounding it has shaken the world I live in.
He was a pure hearted, kind, happy, trustworthy soul... a man like him leaves a huge hole in you heart. He will be dearly missed.
There will be a public memorial Sunday Sept 2nd at noon at Sac-Anime to celebrate this great man, famous at the con for his uplifting personality and cosplay of Jiraiya. EDIT

________More about what happened.
On July 16th around 10pm my sister and her boyfriend/my good friend and fellow costumer were walking home with my sister's 4 dogs (which were all killed that night)
They were in the cross walk less than a 100 feet from our home when a drunk driver going 80mph down a 35mph residential road, failed to make a turn and plowed through the stop sign on the far side of the intersection... he struck the group and just kept on going, never slowed or stopped.
My sister was in the car's direct path, my friend was directly behind her, he told her to run and shoved her. My sister was clipped and ended up with a compound fracture of her leg, ankle damage and flesh wounds... but he was hit full force, loosing his leg and suffering internal injury... 13 days later my friend lost his life.
he never left the ICU after the hit and run incident. He was due to stay there for weeks, we had been warned he was not out of the woods yet, but he was making progress, he was improving, it had been almost 2 weeks since he was hit... we felt like he was in the clear, and then so very suddenly, he was gone.
My friend was a kind, gentle, jolly person who just naturally knew how to make people happy. He completed my sister's life and brightened mine. The three of us got along so well it felt as if he was family, I expected for him to one day become my brother in law.
He was a person loved by many and he will be dearly missed.
Rest in Peace my friend, you will never be forgotten.
My sister will forever love you and you will forever be my friend.
