Would
Par Lilith de’Lion
If the setting sun could wipe away the shadow that I cast,
Would the world remember that I once lived, or which memory would even last?
Would anyone even bother to cry because I am not there,
Would anyone even take the time, or does anyone even care?
Would the countless hours I threw away amount to anything,
Would those I loved forget my mistakes and pain they often bring?
Would they know how much I loved them or the last thing that I said,
Would they even shed a tear for me the last time my name is read?
Would you light a candle in our window until dawn,
Would you even see the light through all the darkness that I’ve shown?
Would you think of all days gone by the good ones and the bad?
Would you remember the happy times or only feel the sad?
Would you know how much I loved you or how you held my heart,
Would you remember our first kiss and how I cried each time we’d part?
Would you remember our last embrace and how you held me tight,
Would you forgive the angry words we said during our last fight?
Would you forget the pain I caused or how much I lied to you,
Would you finally find the love you deserve that I couldn’t give to you?
If the setting sun could wipe away the shadow that I cast,
The world might be a better place if this day were now the last.
