Just to let you know xD
I'm currently finishing this traditional commission for a friend of mine- it's her beautiful doggy, Romeo:meow:
You may remember I've posted a sketch of him previously:
It's been a while since my last update and this is the mai reason I'm so inactive. I'm starting a couple of new commissions, but they've been slowed down by this one, and soem issues I've had in real life- hopefully once I finish this one tomorrow or the day after tomorrow I'll have more free time:aww:
So:
1. made the sketch on the stretched paper
2. made the first shades with watery pencils and acrylics
3. added some other shades
4. putting down some more refined colours
5. making some fur strand by strand *dies*
6. the head and some bit of fur missing, the bg will be finished

So yeah, I rarely draw animals, but I feel so proud of myself:love: I can't wait to show you the finished picture. The original piece will be sold to my friend, who'll expose it in her house:love:

I don't have much to say, apart of that I'm really glad I'm making a traditional work which is making me feel so satisfied, and that I see dog's fur everywhere now ahaha xD
I'm giving out all the technical details in the next and final update:meow:

Thank you for looking:bow:

Very cool to see the process of the painting, and the end result is so very well done!

Wow, that's incredible :wow: The detail on the fur especially looks so realistic and with watercolours too! I find watercolours so difficult...

Thank you very much dear! I can't wait to share the finished piece with you!:aww:
And they are, aren't they? I don't work directly with watercolours, but I use acrylics and watery pencils with the watercolour techniques and such. I feel like I have more control on it And they dry faster xD

I have to ask, how do you stretch the paper? I've read a bit on how to do it, but every time I do a watercolour painting it gets pretty bumpy and it starts shedding bits of pigment and paper residue from the painting.

I've found a very simple and illuminating tutorial about it- I was going to share it in the finished piece since this wip will soon go between my scraps-
It's here: [link]
I was pretty unsure about it, but after using acrylics with a LOT of water in here, just after some minutes, the paper returned completely flat, showing its original texture. I've bought a 300g/m2 paper, so it's kind of heavy, but I've been very amazed myself 8D

Ahh, I see, that explains a bit. I suppose the paper I used wasn't very good quality watercolour paper. I did try taping it down to my desk though, but it just got loose from the tape somehow. I'll try properly stretching it next time ^^ Thanks for the tip/link!

It could be. I've been changing a lot of papers, and I admit, I was also very nervous and anxious- I didn't wait for the paint to dry- so I always made holes in the sheets ^^;
No problem at all, and good luck!:la:

It still looks amazing. :aww: It's nice to see how it has developed all the time. Your friend must be super-duper-extra-happy to get this. :D

Thank you Hanna!:aww: I'm kind of sorry I didn't take any shot of some processes, but I love looking at it forming and developing as well :D
I truly hope so! She's buying it to make a surprise gift for their parents, I hope they'll be happy with it:boogie:

If painting goes well you kinda forget yourself into the flow so taking pictures isn't the first thing in your mind. :D
I'm sure their love it. :aww:
