            It was bad luck that Nimue and Reese were unable to find good shelter before nightfall. What could the handler expect though? They’d had incredible luck up until this point and it was only natural that they’d face a real challenge sooner or later.

            Looking around her at the ominous darkness of the forest, she stuck close to her barbary’s side. Staying out in the open for one night couldn’t hurt, right?

            The pair found a clearing that seemed comfortable enough though Reese wished that it weren’t a new moon so they could see their surroundings a bit better. Or, rather, so she could see her surroundings better. Nimue had little trouble navigating the obstacles while Reese stumbled over everything when she wasn’t on the barbary’s back.

            Reese wouldn’t have to worry about that now as she sat down beside Nimue who was already sprawled across the ground. The day’s trip had been exhausting.

            Just as she began to dose off, Nimue abruptly sat up consequently knocking Reese forward.

            “AH! What-?! Nimue!” The handler shoved Nimue back just as she began a low growl. That was when Reese heard several large bodies rustling the foliage all around them. And then the most heart stopping sound - a deep snarl that was not Nimue’s filled the clearing.

            They were in deep shit.
