I stumbled upon a pony customizing tutorial in 2005 and was immediately inspired to start creating all of my favorite art inspirations into custom pony designs.
Majority of my customs have full body repaints, which in themselves took years to get smooth, by practice. Expressionism for texturing paint for eyes has taken many years of practice, as well. I've also developed my own methods for making my own hair lines on the scalps of my customs, and methods for styling that allow me to create any style of hair out there that exists.
All hair plugs I make for my customs are made from authentic Hasbro pony hair from dollyhair.com, Restoredollhair, Shimmerlocks, wool hair from EweAndI fiber crafts (shop local to me!) and sometimes yarn, faux fur, feathers or any textile trim that works.
All textiles on my customs are entirely hand-sewn, and many years of practice have abled me to balance out small details for outfit designs.
Over the recent years I've taken up leather and metal crafting for armor, weapon accessories, and other items and the leather gives textiles a much more authentic feel.
I also reposition bodily and facial features of my customs every now and then, when necessary. I do not use clay sculpt on my work at all, I use leather and very recently have started working a little bit with Sugru moldable glue.
awe thanks so much!
Yeah I found out at one point that someone who commissioned me a lot resold what they paid me for, on eBay. I find it odd that people are trying to find a resale market for handmade goods... but it is what it is and they're well within their means to do so. I do like it when people find their way back to my original work though lol the resales kinda work as advertisement in that sense.
Thank you so much! 😁
