I think when I first started posting on deviantART I was only posting like ... really shitty pencil drawings done with like crayola colored pencils and man ... it was bad. I was 12 and because a lot of stuff goes over my head I didn't realize how much stuff that was posted here was actually like ... made digitally? I looked at so much stuff and was like, wow, that looks really smooth, how did someone do that on paper?
(newsflash baby Ker ... they didn't)
anyway I eventually found out all that stuff was made digitally so I started scanning all my drawings as sketches and then coloring them in Photoshop and then in SAI ... until eventually I was doing everything digitally from sketching to coloring in SAI and Photoshop. Presently, I do digital art across three programs: Mischief for sketching, SAI for lining/coloring/painting, and Photoshop for final touches.
... but, lately, I've kind of fallen down a YouTube rabbit hole of people doing traditional art (and in particular I'm like ... addicted to artist youtubers who buy cheap stuff and make things with it and even compare really expensive high-end stuff to cheap stuff, it's so niche but I really enjoy it?) and now I ... want to dip my feet back into doing traditional art
I had a set of copic markers once upon a time but between a couple of moves, years of depression and abuse, I've .... lost them all. No idea where any of them are. And, like man, copics are/were really nice but I don't think I could justify spending money on them right now. So I'm maybe going to dip my feet back into the traditional art pool with some ... cheap stuff. I've started fucking around with dollar store water colors.
Maybe my experiments will make it here, maybe they won't, but either way when I'm done messing around I'm going to make a journal post with some cheap art supplies if anyone wants to fuck around with them.
ALSO I don't really do Christmas anymore (I'm converting to Judaism so I uh) but Happy Holidays to everyone still around.
