Need some help

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 17, 2009, 11:43 AM
I have noticed a problem with viewing my images in browser....

When I open some of my photos, I see a huge difference in colors between normal view and full view of each photo.
In full view the colors are too saturated and changed, but the normal view (the one generated by Deviant Art when submitting) has normal colors. I've checked, and the color space of the photo is sRGB, as it should be.
I use Mozilla Firefox as a browser, and I've found out it has some problem. I've tried with Internet explorer and it works fine, the colors are ok there in both views.

What should I do with the Firefox? It's the 3.5 version, I haven't changed any settings. Any of you had similar problem, maybe? If you know the solution, I'd be grateful, cause I wouldn't like to have to google it two days and waste too much time on it and still not find the solution.

Also, I haven't changed my workflow, so it's not a problem either.

Maybe the problem is my new Toshiba notebook...

Thank you on any useful advice.

Hugs'n'kisses

Lidija

maybe the laptop has some custom color setting, check that in monitor color management it's a sub menu in the advanced display settings

Sorry for the late reply. :)
Yes I will definitely check the settings, something is very wrong. But I still haven't found the time for that, so I'm looking at the wrong photo colors in Firefox at the moment :D :D

color management is a complicated thing... I still don't understand it completely, and I'm not sure I'm doing everything right. but I do know it's a problem for digital photographers because you never know what exactly other people see on their monitors.

FF is a color managed application, so is Photoshop, but IE isn't. do you save your photos with embedded color profiles? they tell color managed programs how to interpret color information in your files.

Hi Lidija, I'm using FF3.5 and I don't see a difference. We use IE7 at work and that seems a little different, but and this might be a slolution (might not be either) at home I use a CRT monitor and work uses an LCD. What were you viewing on before your Laptop?

I usually work with photos at home, on PC. All monitors are LCD. And the colors on the Firefox 3.5 on PC are ok. So, it's something about the laptop. I'll have to search a little...

One or two other deviants have mentioned this in Journals as well. Maybe it is a dA thing. Also do you save as a jpeg or save for web?

What I've noticed is that the color is darker on dA than the orig. image. For ME this seems like a dA problem.

Dunno... In my case it isn't. My home PC 'sees' everything ok.

Maybe it's a temporary glitch? I use Safari and sometimes the same thing happens when I'm viewing deviations.

hm... dunno. :(
now I see it doesn't show any of the photos good, but IE does. I will have to check on another computer with FF 3.5. If everything will be ok, then the problem is probably my laptop.

It certainly is about my laptop. I know now, because on my home PC, everything is ok. And it is also FF 3.5
