Imperial Supreme Dalek by Librarian-bot Imperial Supreme Dalek by Librarian-bot
Supreme Dalek: Civil war era; Imperial faction

Despite Davros' extreme paranoia about maintaining control of his new generation of Daleks, he found himself unable to properly manage every front of the war solely in conjunction with battle computers. To better distribute responsibility for his budding empire, he created a Supreme Dalek unit with improved data processing and command net privileges, albeit one with vastly more restraints on its behavior than previous 'Dalek Supremes'.

--

As stated elsewhere, this Dalek acts as an earlier iteration of the Supreme Dalek from Journey's End (may its shell be blighted) and as a representation of the the Supreme Dalek from 'The Curse of Davros'. Nothing too complicated, although I'm quite pleased with the brackets.

And . . . ladies and gentlemen, with this Dalek, I believe the only thing missing from the Dalek History project is the Time War Dalek Emperor. Since I punted the gold Daleks from 'Day' and 'Frontier in Space' over to Project Infinity and I'm not generally planning to include every arm attachment as its own entry, this means I have now modeled every standard style Dalek ever mentioned in the main continuity for Doctor Who. And, given that I've completed my 'Arcade' variant for Project Infinity, that means I only have to model the 'Leaky' Spider Daleks from Fire and Brimstone and the God of All Daleks itself and the modelling side of this project might actually be - gulp - finished!

Two years and I appear to have modeled pretty much every Dalek variant out there.

Oh, except the versions mentioned in War of the Daleks (spider, strider, marine). I plead the fact that it's an awful book and no fun. And the swamp Dalek, I suppose.

And I just know I'm going to get loads of comments about what I've missed now . . .

Daleks, as always, belong to Terry Nation's estate. This model is one of a very large number I have build with my own keyboard and mouse.

So, regarding your description (I know this comment is extremely late, but this just crossed my mind), what sort of restrictions do you think this Supreme would have when compared to previous and 'future' Supreme Daleks?

An idea for a restriction I thought of, what if this Supreme Dalek been hardwired to unshakably believe it has automatic irremovable killswitches which will kick in if it performs specific actions, but it doesn't know what said actions are, so the only way to avoid them is to attempt to predict exactly what Davros who it believed built said killswitches wouldn't have wanted it to do and thus what actions he'd have built killswitches against and live according to said assumptions, with the only actual hardwired programming being said unshakable belief in fictitious killswitches.

Essentially that it would have been conditioned to obey Davros without question and would have its intelligence and initiative limited so that it never thought to break that conditioning.

So would its strategic capabilities would be at a disadvantages when compared to its renegade counterpart, or even the Supreme Daleks of the past?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I wrote the bio text. It's been handicapped to stop it taking over.

Are you worried about being finished? well I doubt you'd be finished soon. Ever heard of THE DALEK PROJECT?

Would love to see a white version of this! A sort of uber-Imperial Dalek!

And although I note you say all the variants youve done, but I am still hoping to see you do a Time Controller Imperial Dalek!

Excellent work as always!

Are you gonna do the Marine Dalek or the Special Weapons Dalek from The Genocide Machine?

I'm not going to do the marine Dalek, and I'd forgotten about the Genocide Machine SWD. I might . . . I do sort of like the design Lee Sullivan did for it all those years ago.

So are the Time War Dalek descended from the Imperials?

When I was building up my Dalek History timeline, I decided that the Time War Daleks would be descended from both lineages. They get their shape from the Skaro line but the detailing on the slats and some of the dome and shoulder structure from the Necros line. What I imagine happening is that the Time War Daleks were designed to be as effective as possible, so they take strengths from every type of Dalek.

I meant like genetically. Between the Renegades and the NDP pure Daleks were extinct, weren't they?

Oh, I just figured the current Daleks (Time War, NDP, whichever) are based on pure genetic matter either preserved or stolen from Skaro's history. They'd have eradicated the Imperials as impure. In fact, recovering Davros might have been one way they got the matter needed to keep themselves pure.

This beauty: tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Marsh_Da…

Actually called the Marsh Dalek (drat my sleep-deprived brain), it is one of the weirder variants out there. Jim, of Jim's Dalek Site, did a spiffing version of it but I have to say, I am not myself tempted (homepage.ntlworld.com/james.pa….

I imagined a black imperial dalek with a sort of gold thin tree stripey patterns with branches and no distinct direction on it's black areas. Although I must say the brackets are a genius idea!
Also, I would love to see your black commander dalek in your new new dalek paradigm form! as well as an emperor!

I'm not sure if I want to do a full Black Dalek for the New Paradigm. Rather than what I did before where I had black Daleks with a strip around the dome for each caste, I'm going to reverse it so each caste has a black-domed Elite in place of fully black Daleks (except the Supreme of course, and the Eternal, which are just weird with their colouring). With the distinct castes, that just strikes me as a more elegant way of doing it.

No idea what to do for a NDP Emperor yet, I'm afraid . . .

That's actually a very good idea! Will drone elites have caste coloured heads? and sorry for the late reply.

No, although that might be an interesting way of fitting some sort of additional rank in. The Drone Elite will correspond to the traditional 'Black Dalek Leader' in colour scheme, with just a black dome. At least, that's the current plan!

Another amazing Dalek model. Are you going to make the new paradigm emperor or Dalek prime minster? Apart from them I can't think other any other Daleks, well you covered all the TV and Audio series anyway.

Ah, the Prime Minister. Yes, I'd forgotten that. I will have to build it, definitely. Less sure about the New Paradigm Emperor. I don't entirely like the one from the Eternity Clock . . .

Yeah, but that's just a repaint of the normal Time War Emperor so . . . I don't know. Essentially, I've yet to work out how to do it and make it look distinct and interesting.

He looks great - The Imperial Army is complete!

I'm loving that green eye that you've put on all the Imperial Daleks. You said in one that it's supposed to be like an aperture - would that be like on a camera?

As for the comments.... Yes. Yes you are :P Myself, I do actually only have one suggestion: Will you be in featuring the Glider Dalek of the Skaro Degradations, at all?

I may have to build the Glider, just for completeness but it's low priority. Really, I just need to finish the very similar looking Time War Emperor first!

And - heh - what I meant but didn't articulate well with the Necros and Imperial Dalek eyes was that I'd taken inspiration from Aperture Sciences' robots in the 'Portal' games - the ring of lights in a camera eye. I did the same sort of thing with the Mechonoids - although there I took a lot more of the iPod seamless styling.

I wonder how big the Time War Emperor is compared to the City Emperor.....

Hmm....what about making a 'big eye' poster for them, kinda like the poster we saw for Asylum or the view we had of Sec in 'Manhattan'?

I certainly should have a go at doing one of those posters.

As for relative sizes, I think - with my versions at least - the Time War Emperor is much bigger, but probably has about the same mass.
