Description
This is a painting.
I created it for Seventh Sanctums, Characters - Extreme contest [link]
I wanted to paint a beautiful boy in an elegant kimono. So, I was thinking a prince would work and found this description of a prince from the Fangirl Fantasies Generator...
This prince experiences gender confusion (but doesn't seem to suffer from it). His sensuous hair is iron-grey. His lavender eyes pierce your soul. His voice is a powerful baritone.
I used photos of my doll to help with the pose and to get an idea of the folds in the cloth (I'd draped the doll in a scarf). The flower pattern on the kimono I've copied from a placemat. The flowers took ages to paint as did the facial features of the doll. I've changed the features of the doll... the eyes are smaller (particularly the pupils and the neck is wider).
The name of the character, Lord Violetrascal came from 'The Fantasy Name generator Extreme' (part of the contest rules). I waited till I had most of the painting done before choosing a name that I felt conveyed my character.
