The reason why Crabrawler isn't a Water-Type because Crabrawler is based on a Coconut Crab & Coconut Crabs can't swim.

This Pokémon is cool imo ^^ And the fact that Hala has one + Hala's French name (which comes directly from the word "pectoral") + what Hala says just before he fights you basically confirms that Hala is a specialist of Fighting type Pokémon ^^

that's cool how they used a plant name that also means pectoral xD Gamefreak really thinks things through really well!

Actually, that conversation made me check what the French name came from and it actually comes from a flower name Oo I'm really surprised, suddenly I like this name (Pectorius, if you wanna know ^^) much more ! Hala's still better but Pectorius doesn't sound as shitty as it sounded to me 5 minutes ago xD

it sounds cool, yeah, but Hala sounds more Hawaiian xD

and anyway almost all names of the gen7 NPCs are named after flowers! and usually the flowers symbolize specific characteristics or personalities that describe the NPC :D

aside from Hala, the Team Skull leaders are also named in a similar way :D

Yeah, I've noticed ! Literally all characters in Sun & Moon bear names of/inspired by flowers ! And I have to say I quite love that ^^ It became quite a recurrent theme since Gen 6 !

I love this so much! I love how one of its eyes look bruised. And I see your confusion. I was certain it was Water/Fighting until someone said it to me.

About to sprite this one too, i love it and i love how you have made it, although, on serebii it says that it's only fighting type, don't tell me they forgot to include the water type, serebii became so untrustworthy lol

nah, totally my mistake. i wrote the type based on what i saw in the design. didn't check the trailer again before typing it xD i was rushing. totally my bad lol

and yeah bro i would love to see yours :D
i really wanted to make a backsprite for this, but i can't be sure about what its "tail" looks like from the back so i guess i'll have to wait :/

No worries at all, I legit thought it's part water type as well I mean, why IS IT NOT?! Yeah I know it's based off of a coconut crab which lives in land but I can see a bit of  mantis shrimp in there, that can brake glass and create literal electricity with it's pincers(which lives in water) so that made me believe it was water type too I guess...oh well. Omg also, isn't it cool how they gave it a blue eye? xD this crab fights with all of his soul.

It's not a Water-type. Only Fighting. The color scheme makes it's confusing, but I think it is based on coconut crab, a terestrial crab with giant pincer. Some of them has similar color-scheme with Crabrawler. Nice sprites btw, although only Crabrawler's right eye (our left) is half open, its left eye if fully open~

yeah haha sorry i was rushing the description so i was typing off of memory xD my bad. it really looks like it's part water though imo

and sprites don't have to be completely the same as the art, though xD initially, i thought Crabrawler doesn't always have to keep one eye fully open. but now that i watched the trailer again, i stand corrected xD thanks Bima!

also yeah, i know about the coconut crab. i had to make a presentation and demonstration about crustaceans once in my zoology lab class. i'm pretty sure it's based on the coconut crab. i checked bulbapedia too and it agrees xD

of course. i even think i helped in that aspect (cause i told them on Twitter). i mean, the look alone is like a Coconut Crab: bulky build, small but long back legs, huge front claws and even the color is close to some Coco Crabs. not only that, but it makes sense why it's a pure Fighting Type.

no offense man, but i really don't think they would have noticed your tweet. there's literally tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people tweeting at them. it's more likely that coconut crabs were tropical animals, and it fit the tropical theme of the region. sorry dude

also it would make /more/ sense if it were half dark or half bug tbh. i understand why it's not a water type, since coconut crabs are strictly terrestrial and could die in water. plus the main reason it's a fighting type is because of breaking open coconuts; that part sounded like the perfect job for a fighting type then Gamefreak added some other pokedex description stuff to make it sound more like a Pokemon.

Great sprite, I quite like this Pokemon!

Although Corphish and Crawdaunt are kind of crabs, so are Dwebble and Crustle (they are hermit crabs)

oh yeah, forgot about Dwebble and Crustle xD

Corphish and Crawdaunt are actually crayfishes i think. plus Crawdaunt displays batesian mimicry (learned about that term in ecology lecture class a few months ago)

Don't worry, Dwebble and Crustle are easily forgotten! And I think Corphish and Crawdaunt are based off lobsters as well.

nah, lobsters are different from crayfish bro. i just checked bulbapedia now, and they're really based on crayfish like i thought xD
