Project 1047

This is Project 1047.

The Dutch version of the German Gneisenau class battleships.
The Dutch did their own modification on the German Gneisenau design and the result is a more seaworthy and efficient vessel, not to mention pretty fast.
The only thing that the Germans did is to Supply the 11 Inch/280mm Guns and gun turrets.

This ship's sole purpose was to hunt down and destroy Japanese cruisers that might threaten the east Indies (Indonesia).

Noteworthy to this design was the immense leap for the Dutch...
Before this the biggest thing the dutch ever built was around 8,000 tons.
Design 1047 would have been 32,000 tons.

Planned to have been laid down in June of 1940 it's construction got ruined when Nazi Germany invaded.
