[DEVIATION]
***there is still a CONTESTY***
[EMOTE] Also! We are extending the HARDBOILED CONTEST to the next issue of Dreadful Tales, and the submissions still go here: https://www.deviantart.com/dreadful-tales/gallery/102519605/hardboiled-potboiler-contest-2026 (for those who have already submitted, thank you for your patience!) [EMOTE] We are looking forward to stories that have fun indulging all the hardboiled detective cliches, all the Dashiell Hammett, James M. Cain, Jim Thompson, and Raymond Chandler type of stuff!

OMGOMOMGOMG!!! This is one of the best deviations I've ever seen when I need to critique a piece! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/l/l…" width="19" height="19" alt="
The details are so fantastic! How did you even do those paint splashes and details in the background? I am very lazy when it comes to drawing backgrounds, so this is very detailed compared to my best artworks containing backgrounds!
It IS impossible to decide what this deviation actually is. You said "Six Finger Apartment", but it takes me a long time to find out if it really is a six finger apartment or something else, and figure out its message?
The perspective is amazing! It makes me feel like a small creature looking up to see something very grand, and horrifying too. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt="
The colors are so eye-popping. They catch my eye when I first saw this deviation. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/i/i…" width="19" height="19" alt="
Overall, one of the best deviations that I critiqued so far. Keep improving and have a Happy New Year. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/p/p…" width="36" height="38" alt="
