Another old drawing, page 196 from the same book, mostly based on Giger's "Shaft #7".

Giger had dreams of shaft cities, based on what he saw through a window in an always locked door in the chateau where he lived as a boy.

 Yep. I've got all his books and read the biographical stretches.
It was really cool to learn about the little details that inspired his
incredible artistic universe.

Ah yes, one of my favorites of Giger's old ink artwork. It has always fascinated me, how strong of a psychological effect it has on me. One of dread, dreamlike. Good linework btw.

Yeah, put more time into this one. Sooner or later I'll take another stab at the Shaft concept.

i miss this one, how could i...hmm...lovely work...one of the best dark works from you...the perspective reminds me of Escher and the feel of Dave McKean and Gaiman

I did this one in 2000, in one the 500 page books  it somehow held a part of a loose "story" that kept the thing together. Thanx very much.

great work then...I suggest you do bigger drawings...have you done any "true" paintings based on this?
leothefox's avatar
If I can find a large but portable sketchbook I may go bigger. I actually haven't done any true painting since high school.

Why not do it...i encourage you...i see that you are excelling in your line works and digitals, why not try one...a mixed media type wouldnt be much of a burden...if i were living with you or near you i would have compelled or insited you paint...it broadens the mind to learn new things...trust me on that

I do miss painting. I always wanted to go further with it. I may ask friends/relatives for the makings for my birthday or christmas. For the meantime I will press my larger format 500-page sketchbook back into service.
