Mountains of Madness by leothefox Mountains of Madness by leothefox
I just recently read H.P. Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness" (I owned the book for like 10 years before), and it blew me away. I felt a strong desire to immortalize it in some way, so here's my representation of part of the story :la:

Drawn at work and later at home while watching "McMilan & Wife" :dummy:

:la: That might make a difference, I'm not sure how well Lovecraft's purple prose translates into other languages.

 Thank you, buddy! Everybody seems to do Cthulhu
(in fact I did a paid commission of one that isn't posted yet),
but I tend to prefer the other 90% of Lovecraft's work

I know what you mean, I've done my fair chare too to be honest. And I think you're right, I like the old squid as a monster-god but 'Mountains' is a better story.:)

Wheee *0*
Mountains of Madness!! This is so awesome!!
I love the strong black around everywhere...it's just as disturbing as the book was.
But say, didn't you sense a kind of ...unobtrusive sexual tension between the men? Or am I just spoiled by the net XD
It's always the internet's fault.

:giggle: I always thought that about Lovecraft, but nobody
ever seems to share my view. Lovecraft always seems to
have men alone together, and I'm sure in the Antarctic they'd
huddle for warmth ^^
:la: Thank you so much for faveness, dear buddy PARTY HARD

I like the way your walls go on into eternity. I waited a long time to read, "mountains" too. But I actually didn't like it very much, when I absolutely love Lovecraft. I've been rereading his stuff and will give it another go soon. I wish he'd written more stories as long as this.

I liked it, but I preferred Lovecraft's earlier "The Mound", which is set in an ancient civilization beneath Oklahoma

I Love Lovecraft but have completely forgotton to check out his older fiction and those he worked on with others, (and those I don't own in book). I shall have to find this, "Mound" as it tickle my interest greatly. Thanks. :)

Good reading to you! You shall find "The Mound" in the
collection "Horror in the Museum". Zelia Bishop is the
credited author, although he entire contribution was

I added that book to my cart years ago and forgot about it. I'll buy it for Halloween reading next month. I guess I'm lucky, I still have new Lovecraft to read and reread. :)

Lovecraft's work never ceases to inspire me, I haven't read "At the Mountains of Madness", but from what I heard Alien was strongly inspired by it.
