Lensbaby announced two new lenses today as part of their brand new Sol series- the Sol 22 and the Sol 45.

The Sol 45 is a manual focus 45mm lens with a fixed f/3.5 aperture.  It is designed to be a simple to use lens, you just "Tilt. Focus. Shoot!"  According to Lensbaby, "Simply choose what you want to emphasize in the frame, bend the lens toward it, rotate the front-most ring to bring your subject into focus, and shoot."  The lens is designed to work with both full frame and APS-C crop sensor cameras, and the tilt mechanism is designed to always keep the area of focus within the frame on both full frame and crop sensor cameras.    The Sol 45 also has a center-lock feature that will put the focus in the center of the frame.

The Sol 45 also features two hinged bokeh blades that can be rotated horizontally, diagonally or vertically to add the effect of lines and texture to the bokeh and change the look of the bokeh from photo to photo.

The Sol 45 is a lightweight, compact, pancake style lens.

The Sol 22 is very similar to the Sol 45, except it is designed for Panasonic & Olympus Micro 4/3rds cameras.  It is also a 22mm lens, which is about the equivalent of a 44mm lens on Micro 4/3rd cameras so the focal length is relatively the same.

Both lenses are $199.95 USD.  The Sol 45 is available for Canon EF, Fuji X, Nikon F, Pentax K, Sony Alpha A and Sony E mounts.  The Sol 22 is available for Micro 4/3 mounts.  You can learn more on

Here are some example images taken with the Sol 22 and the Sol 45:
