I still have this half-AU in my head, that Delilah made refugee asylum for “fallen women” in Brigmore manor (like real asylum, not like that Magdalene one) and they grow fruits and veggies and when they crave for meat they just hunt for overseers, and they paint and read poetry in the evening and collect men’s bones for charms and all live here happily ever after.
(I know she is far from being nice protective auntie, but c’mon)

(And pathetic pointless fangirl rant: Today it’s been a year since final DLC, but i still can’t stop being less obsessed. Dunno, i guess there is something almost symbolic about her.
I love contrasts in Delilah’s character. She lives in place that is decaying ruin taken by another form of life that is growing. Vines that spread through everything rotting and change it into something new. She uses hair, skin, bones to create, paint… finding new purpose for dead things. Her hounds, her followers - they were something else that they are now, resurrected, from dead or from poor conditions. Her life itself is all about transformation too - baker apprentice, artist, sorceress…empress. Everything about her is united, connected. Yet so ambivalent. Her ALL itself - appearance, place, goals and ambitions - are about change, transformation. Dual goddess. Pale, skinny, colourless, ill looking body covered in roses. Graves in blooming garden, flowers in ribcage. Petals and thorns. Living stone. Constant grow and decay, life and death, in metamorphosis beautiful like corpse described by Baudelaire. Tree whom roots reach so deep that they embrace ancient skeletons buried under, yet his branches are in blossom. Out of the old, in with the new - phrase that mirrors everything around her.

I always loved Delilah as a character. I don't like what they have done with her in the second game, because honestly, it didn't make too much sense to me.
She was always alone. She had to fight to make her life better, to survive, to even think about making it to the end of the month, or perhaps next year.
And yet she has proven that it's possible. She became independent and strong, gathering a circle of witches, along with influence and tools to make her plans become reality.
What happened to her during her life, was extremely unfair. With the story she told, It made me feel for her even more, as I realized how much she suffered, being thrown out from home, all on her own, with her mother not even properly burried and her 'sister' gaining the life of luxury.
And yet she has proven that it's possible. She became independent and strong, gathering a circle of witches, along with influence and tools to make her plans become reality.
She only wanted to be able to get what was rightfully hers, but taken away for a reason she never truly understood.
It was all beyond her control, and she was marked with the title of outcast and antagonist.
I don't see her as an evil character. Just as someone who wasn't understood. Someone who never had a chance to actually speak her mind and say how it truly felt.
I look at this picture and I realize how much it influences me. Witches called her the 'Empress'. Their Empress. She meant the world to them, because they were also outcasts.
Yet she took them in, treated them well and they wanted to help her achieve her goals.
Thank you for this amazing piece of art. You're extremely talented, and maybe it's just me, but the picture you made has way more symbolism to it than average fan-art.
