Lain the Malthrope Sculpture

Here is another sculpture commissioned by jrlallo.  This is the awesome character Lain, from his book series The Book of Deacon!  This sculpture was based off the cover image of one of Joseph's newer books, The Rise of the Red Shadow, which focuses on Lain.

Ah, gosh, this piece was so cool and challenging to work on!  This is the first time I've sculpted a more human-like character in a pose other than standing, I definitely had some difficulties!  The flowing scarf was super neat to sculpt, and I really had fun playing around with the base to make it look more realistic. :)

Check out the other piece I did for jrlallo's series, of the dragon, Myn:

Including the base, Lain measures about 4.25" tall. He is sculpted from Super Sculpey Firm over a wire and foil armature, painted with acrylic paint and sealed with a matte finish. He is mounted on a wooden base that has been sanded, stained and glazed, with Woodland Scenic landscaping used for ground details.

Wow, I absolutely love how many details you managed to add on such a small sculpture! Fantastic work, and I hope the commissioner loves him as much as I do! :)
