Measure of Gods and Allies (Scenes 4-5)
Benyamin’s scouts were wrong: the Aegyptians didn’t arrive until mid-afternoon.  Their stone constructs led the way, followed by a clump of magi.  Then came the chariots and a lone wagon; no doubt it bore this Ark.  Columns of spearmen and archers flanked both sides of the convoy.  Only one magus and a handful of constructs guarded their rear.
Lying flat on the lip of his ravine, Lars glanced down the valley, at the pass and the Yudean hoplites holding it.  Most had deserted with David and Samuel, but forty stood firm.  He prayed they were enough.  If the Aegyptians broke through too soon, their constructs would have no problem smashing the rest of the ambush.  Gideon’s skirmishers couldn’t hope to beat them, and the cavalry were too few to snatch victory from defeat’s jaws.
A trumpet blast scattered his musings.  The constructs broke into an inhumanly fast charge, and the Aegyptian rearguard rushed forwa

Measure of Gods and Allies (Scenes 1-3)
As he slashed the last routing Aegyptian spearman across the back, Decurion Lars Vorenius Abito smiled.  It couldn’t come close to avenging Legio VII, but it helped.  His limbs trembled from the rush.  Sheathing the spatha, Lars patted his mount’s neck.  “Come, girl, we’d best get back to the ridge.”  He wheeled the mare around and cantered toward the battlefield.
The skirmish had ended by the time he rejoined his turma.  Yudean rebels picked their way through the dead Aegyptians. Every time they came across a deactivated construct, the rebels stabbed its mud-like joints with their spears and pried the stone humanoid apart.
“Is that truly necessary?” Lars shouted at the nearest clump of Yudeans.  Unable to speak Hebrew or Aramaic, he settled on Hellene.
One of them nodded.  “They’ll have to build more this way.”
He almost suggested finding a control rod and using the stone

Finished the 1st draft of my 1st novel.  122,000 words, 455 pages, all done in 4 months.  A lot of work remains, but there's no rush quite like this.
Ninth acceptance arrived this evening.  More info once I've got a release date.
My weird-western short story "Water, Gunpowder, Sorcery" has been published in Issue #7 of Warriors and Wizards magazine.  You can buy the print or digital versions of the magazine here:

www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/…

This short story is set during the Texas-Comanche War, and features a confrontation between an ambitious Texas Ranger and a vengeful Comanche sorcerer.  If you enjoy genre mashups, this story is right up your alley.
I never expected this, but The Clone Wars is returning.

Looks like they're bringing the character models more in line with the style of Revenge of the Sith.  There aren't a ton of details, but what the trailer shows makes me think they'll be finishing off story arcs that were in concept stage when the series got canceled (like the Bad Batch and the Mandalorian Civil War).

So, what do you think of this revival?  What do you hope to see?
Well, it looks like the Court is going to lose its moderate voice.

Hmm, I'm curious, have you ever played Wasteland 2 on the ps4? There's a section with the Red Skorpions which makes a statement about slaves and oppressors; much more dynamic than say, Caesar's Legion, who simply came across as jerks in a caste system.

No, I might get around to it someday, but right now I have too many unfinished games or unfinished playthroughs to get much more.

And yeah, I completely agree about the Legion.  It might be different if Obsidian had had time to finish the Legion towns in the East, but as it stands they just come off as post-apocalyptic, Roman ISIS.  I'm only doing a Legion playthrough to get the Platinum for New Vegas.

Ah, have you tried sneaking across the Deathclaw territory in Sloan to go to work for the Great Khans early on? Now there's an armory for an anti-NCR campaign if I ever saw one.

No, but I'm far enough along now that I don't have to.  Planning on using ARCHIMEDES II to complete Arizona Killer relatively easily.

I was quite a "bit" shocked, when a while ago some Muslim believer showed me quotes that openly called ANYONE "Western", a "Jew-defender who must be killed together with the Jews".
Like, literally.
So, yeah, nuff said.

I thought you knew that Nimrod was literally the first active anti-monotheist (not just a passive idolater or "atheist", but a one who FOUGHT against God actively and incited people around him to join his revolt).
He's behind the Babel Tower as well, by the way.

That's not why the name entered pop culture as an insult, though.
