Dragon raised the owlet as the main caretaker, and Tytodyre treated him the best because of this. In event, Dragon ended up naming the owlet Malcolm instead of Davy. Malcolm grew up with Dragon as his father figure, Gabber as a sort of older brother, and his Uncle Ernie. Ernwise was just tickled at the name. Of course, he didn't tell the hatchling that he had eaten his brothers or sister. And deep down, he still had a craving for owlet. For this same reason, Jackal, who was know to eat enemy Tytos on the battlefield, was kept strictly away from the new cadet, despite his outer image of being a caring owl.
"Uncle Ernie?" The young Tyto peeped up. Ernwise chuffed in delight.
"Where's brother Dyre?"
Tytodyre, being exceptionally young himself, had posed as Malcolm's older brother. They referred to him as just Dyre because he needed to learn the importance of Tytos, and a Tyto could not be his kindly brother. Tytodyre and Gabber were talking.

A Clockwork Owl - Part 1
I wrote this when I was in grade 8, and around that time I had a thing for A Clockwork Orange, even though I'd never watched it. I often have short-lived and misjudged obsessions from time to time, and running with what little I knew about the movie, wrote this story. This is just a patchwork of a story, I didn't have and ending or plot in mind, and it tumbled into something that.. Well, it could've been a lot worse.
It's a spinoff of another Guardians of Ga'hoole fic I finished a while ago. For that story, I brought the Pure Ones into the real world. Tytodyre is part of the North American Tytonic Union of Pure Ones, and his league covers the states of Pensilvania, New York, and Vermont.
Tytodyre's slang, Tolvdom, is a combination of Norwegian, Russian, and British slang.
