To The Skies

This commission has been sort of become a benchmark for me - what I'm capable of, and to what direction I wish to reach with my art. With the aid of friends and personally taken photos out in some wondrous locations, it all coalesced into this image. Morghus has been a right star of a commissioner, and I have had a great experience creating this image for them. I am very pleased, and plan to keep right on going! It has been a true pleasure. : )

I think it's an excellent exhibit of your skills.  It's very majestic, and I can almost feel the damp, cool breeze coming through my tablet's screen.  You demonstrate an excellent understanding of perspective, as well as understanding balance in visual texture.

Keep up the grand work!

I adore all the little details, like the slight green tint of the light reflecting off the scales. I also just love the depth, how my eye is drawn through the clearing to the valley, as though the world is opening out ahead. I'd like to follow the wyvern--if only I could! :+fav:

You added Turkey Vultures! They look to be enjoying the natural lift out there, and looking at them makes me want to speculate on what the flying conditions would be like on a day like this.

Morghus turned out well; I like how the light shines on those scales. But moreover that expression is fascinating. I wonder what just happened to make the wyvern turn back this way? Could it be something or someone the wyvern is looking at? The thought fascinates me.

Thanks for sharing your work!

Yeah - I wouldn't have added those vultures after someone suggested to add some birds, which reminded me of my trip to the Great Stone Door in Tennessee, where the vultures were very common, spiraling up on the thermals and ridge lifts. So much fun. ^^

Thank you so much for your detailed responses to my work - it has certainly helped me remind myself of my own love of detail and illustrative continuity. :) Cheers!
