To all my Aussie buddies "Down Under", I bring great news!  In June of 2012, Transformers Prime will be released on DVD!  **happy tiggy dance**  That means you guys can get a legitimate licensed DVD set of Season 1 instead of buying the stolen bootleg DVD's I warned you about in my previous journal.  AWESOMESAUCE!  Read below for more details, link provided to original article at the top and bottom of the text below for proof and verification.  **grins**  My journal warning of the Bootleg ripoff DVD's can be found here:
Buyer Beware!EDIT 6: Legitimate Japanese release cover images and links to Amazon dot com listings for them are added at the bottom of the journal.
EDIT 5: More Ebay listings found, past listings updated, :bulletblue: = Edit 5 listings added.
EDIT 4: More Ebay listings found, :bulletgreen: = Edit 4 listings added.
EDIT 3: If you want to know how to identify bootleg ripoff fake DVDs from legitimate licensed DVDs, I posted a journal here that provides links to resources that will help you in identifying the bootlegs.
EDIT 2: More Ebay listings found, :bulletyellow: = Edit 2 listings added, :bulletred: = original post listings.
EDIT 1: Thank you to :iconGatekat: for this info:  Another red flag that ensures 100% positive that a DVD is a bootleg ripoff - Region 0.  Only personal DVDR's make those, not companies, ergo, it's stolen property.  http

Madman Secures Distribution Deal With Hasbro Studios
March 29, 2012 09:59…

Madman Entertainment is proud to announce it has secured a new distribution deal with Hasbro Studios, the TV development and production division of Hasbro, Inc (NASDAQ: HAS) – the producer of hit series including 'Transformers: Prime', 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic', 'G.I. Joe: Renegades', 'Pound Puppies' and more.

The agreement with Hasbro Studios further cements Madman's position as the home entertainment industry's leading distributor of cool and collectible content for kids, and encompasses brand-new properties, including the critically acclaimed CG-animated action series 'Transformers: Prime' and the cool 'My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic'.

Developed by Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the team behind 'Fringe', 'Alias', and the 'Star Trek' and 'Transformers' movies, and Jeff Kline ('Men in Black: The Series', 'GI Joe: Renegades'), 'Transformers: Prime' is the state-of-the-art, triumphant CG-animated TV series and next chapter in the billion dollar 'Transformers' franchise. With a bold and modern new look and a further deepening of the 'Transformers' mythology, 'Transformers: Prime' holds great appeal to new audiences and core fans alike. Peter Cullen, long-time voice of Optimus Prime from the original 'Transformers: Generation 1' series through to the recent 'Transformers' movies, also reprises his role for 'Transformers: Prime'.

'My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic' introduces a new generation to the 'My Little Pony' franchise with a vibrant and irreverent take on this beloved toy brand, established more than 25 years ago. Developed by Hasbro Studios with Lauren Faust, the 'My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic' series has become a pop culture phenomenon across the globe, thanks to the show's brilliantly written plot lines, high quality graphics and a message of friendship that almost anyone can relate to.

"We are incredibly honoured to be partnering with Hasbro Studios and very excited to be representing their content in this territory," said Tim Anderson, Managing Director, Madman Entertainment. "Hasbro Studios has produced a stellar line-up of shows - both faithful to the licenses and original in their approach – which will perfectly complement our existing suite of highly sought-after kids' content".

"Our goal is to further engage audiences with our content, everywhere they are consuming entertainment. It is important that we work with partners that are dedicated to this vision," said Stephen Davis, President, Hasbro Studios. "Madman are just such partners and we look forward to achieving great success with them well into the future."

The first wave of Hasbro content, including 'Transformers: Prime' and 'My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic' will release in June, 2012.…

This excites me, since if I comes out in Aussie, it will be coming to NZ as well. Hopefully it's released in time for my local con, there's always a Madman stall there. :D

Wait, wouldn't it also have been possible for Australians to just go on sites like Amazon, or go through major retailers and buy legitimate copies that they could have imported? o.o

Still, good news though. :3 One of two good things in quite sometime that I've heard having anything to do with media AND Australia. So, awesome~

The problem is, the US/Canadian release will not work on Australian DVD players because the region code is different. The US and Canada is Region code 1, while Australia, Mexico, and South America is Region code 4. To see the different region codes for DVD releases, have a look here --> [link]

And yes, it is very awesome indeed. Stay well away from bootleg ripoffs, they are cheap crap and are not worth the cost of losing the things we love because the licensed products support the real copyright holder so they CAN keep bringing us more. **smiles**

Oh god, the region locking system, games are designed with those as well. Dx There are people out there that theorize that the region locking is intended to just screw with Australia, for various reasons.

And I'm well away of staying away from bootlegs, its why I never buy stuff off of e-bay and such, if I want a DVD I prefer to go to proper sites as well as physical retailers. :3 So I can get what I pay for and the creators can use my money to give us more.

Still, yay for Australia~!

The region locking system is not to screw over anyone, it is meant to keep DVD's that are produced in some countries but not authorized for sale in other countries from being shipped to and played in the countries they are not authorized to be sold in. There are 6 region codes that are set for various countries while there is an additional region code for airline and cruise ship use, as well as a reserve code for very specific purposes. **shrugs**

lol, I know what its for Katt! XD But even if a system does what its intended too it can hurt industries in certain countries, all I'm saying, which apparently it has done to Australia, but from all that stuff I've heard from people I know there things have been always a little loopy.

But I know very well what its for. :3

Sadly, that can't be helped. But there are a lot of things this helps too. Including industries exclusive to certain countries. It allows them to control where their stuff goes. :)
