THESE ARE LOOKING GREAT, YOU GUYS!
Wellp, this club is to help people get better at drawing ponies, right?
now some of you (probably most of us, since we're still so small >w<) have tried to draw a pony, right?
Well, this is a good way to get started, whether you've never drawn a pony or not!
Hasn't tried yet D:
What i'd suggest is maybe print of a few pictures of ponies from the show.
It's hard to mess up tracing, because you're following lines that were already made! (you know where this is going) Yup! That's right! I suggest tracing ponies from the show. It'll help you get the feel for a pony, without straying to far from the original design.
Once you think you traced your last line, and you're ready to move on, I would continue to use those ponies from the show, but now just as a reference. Try drawing Twilight, Dash, and any of the ponies from the show, just by looking at at the picture. Referencing is a good way to stay close to the original design, and still feel like it's your own work!
Once you think your getting the hang of it, and you start to find the similarity in the poses, noses, and other pony parts (heheh XD), then your ready to move on to... drawing... without a reference (I KNOW MAH TERMS) If you've practiced enough you should have a picture of how ponies look in your mind. Even the little details, because every detail will only make the pony better or worse (and both are completely natural results C: So don't worry, you can always look back at a reference) You'll see the ponies beginning to look like they're from the show, without having to look at anything!
Now you shouldn't need anything to draw your ponies! That is, except hands and nevermind~ You can even start to do original poses- poses never used in the show! That's how well you should know a ponies anatomy C:
THE OTHER WAY TO LEARN TO DRAW PONIES, THE WAY I, MYSELF, HAVE BEEN DOIN'
Hasn't even tried drawing a pony yet D:
I started right from referencing~ I can naturally draw what is see, don't be ashamed if you don't have that ability, it's totally normal C: As to what referencing is, i'm too lazy to write it out again, so look up thar for more info. However, what's different about my referencing is im only using one view. Im ONLY working on the profile view of ponies. Not 3/4's and not head on (STILL KNOW MAH TERMS)
Again, once you feel the similarity and the patterns of how the noses, POSE (just one view), and body looks, than you move on to... not... referencing ^^ You should no longer need to look at a picture to draw your ponies!
Go back to step only now practicing a different view 3/4's, head on, behind, above, below, anything ^^ remember, theres a difference between poses and views! If this is your rank, then you have completed and at least once and have gone back to master a different view. x2 means it's you second time going to complete them, and x3 means it's your third, etc. C:
NOW YOURE A PRO! Once you've conquered all the views, you can try new poses, because you'll understand the anatomy of the pony! how that bends, how long this is, etc! C: You may also want to try drawing different ponies, but it's fine to draw different ponies from the start ^^
is the highest rank! YOU SHOULD FEEL SO FREAKING PROUD RIGHT NOW!
I hope this helped!
and remember, Keep On Drawing!
YOU GUYS ARE ALL SO AMAZING
