Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice, finally i got the time to saw it on IMAX 3D (my first time) and it's brilliant thing coming from the director Zack Snyder and co.
First, clearly as the title goes the main character to be shown in this movie is Batman (check the credit rolls) and i have to say that Ben Affleck really did a terrific job as Batman and i have to say that he is way better than Christian Bale's Batman and without the husky weird voice that getting weirder as the trilogy goes. He is brutal and really deserved the title the brave and the bold, the action and combat really straight from Arkham video game series; quick killing blows with somehow third eye to counter attacks from every direction (you almost see hints to hit counter button everytime the mob gonna hit Batman lol). And i love the casting of Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, for me his casting truly worth every penny genius, tech savy, proficient tactician, almost like how japanese people dream of a butler and with englishman sarcasm, for me it's the best Alfred ever. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor is very good for me personally. He shows a combination between genius intellect meets mild sociopathic and power hungry personality. He shows a really nasty Lex Luthor like in the comic book (personal hate for aliens and especially Superman) I hope to see his version of Lex pitted against Superman battling with Power armor just like in the comic (fingers crossed DC !)
The story is kinda hard to grab but they really took most of the story from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns part 2, had a slight hint that joker is already dead in gotham city and that also explained why suicide squad's joker is younger (kinda new joker coming to town that some speculation believe the joker is Jason Todd who supposed to be dead after being tortured by the joker), the nuclear missile attack suffered by superman and so on. The future prophecy that bruce wayne received is not quite clear like it seems the flash coming from the future to tell batman what gonna happened if he didn't stop superman now but it seems they cut the whole version for theatre release sakes (1 hour 51 minute from approximately almost 3 hour) but we are expected to see more on the ultimate cut version on blu-ray.
For instance this movie were hit by the same thing like one of my favorite movie Kingdom of Heaven by Sir Ridley Scott its the running time, they cut some significant scene just to make sure the running time is below 3 hour and that can cause serious problem to the story. The performances of the ensemble cast is really good, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman really nails it, but superman's part is kinda dull and i'm kinda disappointed to saw the fight between batman and superman is very short (again Zack Snyder said that they cut some fight scene between superman and batman to achieve PG-13) and i love to see them beating the crap out of each other. They also expanded Lois Lane role in this conflict, become somehow a savior for Superman and for me personally is a little bit over.
Final result 7.5 / 10. Great movie, great premises, great casting, average story ruined by the theatrical running time. Terrific job by DC to put more darker and brooding theme to the story compared cheesy attempt by Marvel. I'm gonna skip Wonder Woman (2017) and jump straight to Justice League : Part 1 (2019).
