WipEout OC - Azari Sant'Elia

Azari Sant'Elia was the firstborn of the ex-AG Pilot Benedetta Sant'Elia, on 29th August 2137. While his younger siblings took other paths, he stubbornly decided to join the AG Racing scene, not wanting to cut the well-known Sant'Elia family line in that sport. Begrudgingly, Benedetta accepted to let him join the F9000 after its opening in 2156.

During the first five years, he was a Reserve Pilot of FEISAR, marking the beginning of his rivalry against his compatriot Roberto Sergio, which later left to join G-Tech. The implementation of the Super Weapons on 2160 caused his first major incident, where the cryogenic Super Weapon of Tigron broke through his cockpit, wounding half his body and blowing up his AG craft after. It was deemed almost as a miracle for how he survived.

In 2161, after Songen Grey left Van-Über to start his Gangoism cult, Azari didn't think twice and signed to be their Second Pilot after he dismissed the renovation of his previous one at FEISAR. Although he considered the Founder of the Team "Eccentric, zealous and at times worrisome", he didn't deny that his vision aligned in part with his own, and that showed well after he scored some good victories for the team besides the First Pilot, Nami Mishima - whenever their AG crafts weren't sabotaged at least 9 times out of 10.

A fatal sabotage eventually was, in fact, the cause of his death in 2164, as he failed to bail out in time inside the collapsed mine section of Temtesh Bay. Aside from him, five more Pilots died in what was passed down in history as the Temtesh Bay Disaster. From that day on, the family of Sant'Elia never recovered from the trauma of losing him, not even after they won the compensation from Overtel besides the families of the other five Pilots.
